what do you mean good friend :D- - - Updated - - -
I just took a swing at you!

Nah, you're intelligent and on a much higher philosophical level than me, but I just wanted you, and Swag, to look more at the person :)

I don't really disagree with any of you, but there's more to it than that.
About the selfishness - everything we do is selfish.

But selfish isn't binary. There are broad shades of gray.

It's one thing to drive your car off a cliff. It's another to murder someone in the process, as what happened in Chicago a few years ago that killed the drummer of the band Silkworm and two others (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeanette_Sliwinski).

Walking out in front of a train is an easy and sure way to get killed, and it will not physical harm anyone else.

It can psychologically harm people, though.
Absolutely. There are probably 5-year-old kids on the platform with their parents too.

And not that someone's death is an "inconvenience" to others, but there's an unfortunate math to that. Actuaries have to put dollar figures on these sorts of things all the time.

So a guy who offs himself with sleeping pills versus one who blows themselves up in their car on a bridge, blocking a major artery to a city for several hours, is a form of greater public harm regardless. Even if it's not physical.

All it took was one failed shoebomber to fuck up security check points for air travel for millions of people every day for the past several years. Talk about a destructive return on investment.

So it's still damaging, then, and in the same terms of selfishness.
As I said earlier, if it's true it's a young girl, I doubt she considered the inconvenience of people or how it could affect the conductor.
It's an easy and sure way to die and if you walk out in front of a train, you truly wish to die.

I really don't disagree with Greg, cause I used to think the same :)

Yeah, I definitely get that you're not disagreeing.

People who commit suicide are often clearly not even thinking about how it affects their loved ones. (Kurt Cobain, anyone?) So you might have a point here in that all forms of suicide are inconsiderate to others in some shape or form. But there are personal ways to do it (e.g., Kurt and a shotgun) and then there are people who treat innocent bystanders around them as insignificant and petty insects.

It wasn't even packed :D
Man, Asif, you give it up easy. But I knew that. ;)

Hence the easy and sure way to die. This is not 'Murica :D
