Serious, Kate?

Or just a bad week at the office?
Bit of both, really. Just questioning my options, I didn't do very well in a class this semester and now any chances of substantial funding are likely gone, so I may be left having to do something else. And I said I didn't do very well, I got an A-.

I'm probably delusional since I haven't been drinking at all this week.

Yep, it has been pretty quiet for the past month, but this week I've started to work 9 hour days...maybe they want me to work 12 hour days again like I did at the summer. :shifty:

Well, didn't you tell me once that you worked crazy hours? Sounds pretty normal to me, that you would get a raise after a period of such hard work.

Enjoy it man! Congrats :D
Maybe Martin is right. :D They already removed me to work with bigger projects...maybe I should be scared. :scared:

So you're taking a course -- not offering a course -- and that has ramifications for your grant funding. Interesting arrangement. Maybe I've been out of academia for too long (or you Candidans do things differently here).

It's always good to have options. One of the challenges in academia, or at least I've found when I was in it, is that it can leave you with the impression of having limited options. The "real world" bakes in those options, but the public sector sometimes leaves you with a false sense that you aren't able to ply your trade in too many places. You'd be surprised. Should be worth investigating no matter what, even if it is extra work.

It does, because I would need funding to do a PhD, and they would judge whether or not they give me the money based on previous performance. We'll see, it's never over until it's over, and it would be a shame if it were as I enjoy what I do.

But if it doesn't work out, I do have "real world" experience in the public sector, can write, and might be able to segue into something that still stimulates me. Or I could open a bar.
