Double standards. Weed is not as harmful as cigarettes. Yet governments legalize cigarettes. It's hypocritical of me to talk shiit about cigarettes because I am a heavy smoker myself but still it pisses my off how government's biggest taxes comes from alcohol and cigarettes.

Tobacco is a centuries old industry that isn't taboo or filled with negative stygmas.

To be honest, I don't abuse drugs. Therefore, I don't demand them. I only use it when I come across friends in parties who have it. I can't even remember the last time I paid for drugs.

Anyway, I'm not saying that he warrants the death penalty. The Malaysian authorities do. He got into the business with knowledge of the consequences of getting caught. Now that he's facing the consequences, what's there to feel sorry about? He's reaping what he sowed.

And I think cigarettes & alcohol are not very different from drugs either. It's just that the government permits the former, but forbids the latter. Both of them can be addictive, harmful and fatal. If the governments really cared about health, they'd ban cigarettes and alcohol too.

But wouldn't the high value of the drugs act as a deterrent to the consumer? Maybe not all, but at least a significant number of people?

Demand does not = abuse, just like you buying once in a while does not negate you from the circle. Occasional users are users too and thereby still create demand.
