Something I noticed is that coffee chains are just starting up all over asia and for the most part they suck balls but a lot of people are using them.

I should qualify, Coffee chains are low risk and high profit margin (i had access to the sales figures at the chain i worked for and its astoudning what we make). Starbucks has opened up over there but no-one else has. If you could run a franchise operation that supports the locals, employs locals and uses local produce you should be able to out-do them. Theres loads of indie coffee shops in thailand but cambodia, laos, nam and china were fairly free.
