pretentious douche. what is there to know about electronic music? It's a sequence of programmed noises which sound pretty good if you put them together in the right sequence.
Indeed, you also have to understand they weren't even try to make 'Discovery' again. This is different, it's a very 70s/disco album, and not just by influence i.e. Discovery. However even with this I think it's a bit of a letdown.
But I don't care what they tried to make, the end product is bad. Plenty of disco music is great, that doesn't mean that an album exploring that style partially is automatically good. Poor execution.

An up and coming band might be satisfied with 3-5 of these songs as their EP, but Daft Punk are releasing this. It's a pretty big deal and they're not upholding their end, imo.

Glad I didn't throw 20 EU after this. Thank god for internet piracy to help me sort out the weeds.

It's the antichrist to modern EDM. They pretty much started what edm has become today and I think they just want to get the funk and groove back into edm.
That's how I felt as well. I like it better than Rapture of the Deep. I wasn't too keen on that album. Not bad work for a group that has only one original member left.
