This has a bit of a Portuguese rapper doing a cultural Bad Bunny thing. I never have been a fan of Pedro Mafama's love of autotune. But he put on a great show at Festival Iminente a couple years ago where he was folding himself all over the stage in a white suit. And he interestingly draws influences from old Portuguese folk and fado and contemporizes them.
He does that here on his new album, and this is like serious Alentejo (country farmer region) Portuguese singing with the old ghetto miner boys in Aljustrel. I listen to that and I'm like "fook, that's Portuguese".
Few Portuguese artists are taking these risks and doing something this interesting. (The song is about escaping the harsh realities of countryside mining life.)
