In the last few hours, #McKennie has clarified his position with #ThiagoMotta and the coach is ready to reintegrate him in the squad, pointing at the first two rounds. We can't forget that the American has a contract that expires in 2025 and it is unthinkable that #Juventus decides to keep him, to then lose him for free in a year. That's why #Fiorentina keeps monitoring the situation and will shift its focus on the Texan. The discussions with the viola are ongoing but there is also the renewal option with the bianconeri, that could also come after August 30. [TMW via @AroundJuventus]

This was handled BRILLIANTLY by Motta and Giuntoli. These guys are really on top of it.

If he renews for same salary instead of double that he was demanding, that's actually a case where this tactic worked. Since he was refusing transfer offers like Aston Villa and others.

But let's see first if this news is from reliable sources. But it was allways contract issue. Because on footballing level, Mckennie defenitely suits the mobile 8s moving into channel approach he wants us to play like.

I hate to say it but… I got to go with that Gointoli haters on this one.

If McK stays and renews this was a complete mess situation made by Giuntoli AND Motta

What do you in contract negotiation when it's expiring in this case?

Earlier in year they offered him same salary as he has, he said no wants double. They wanted to sell him because of that refusal. He then declined transfer offers, or demanded doubled salary from interested clubs. And because of that they froze him out and trained separately.

That last approach seemed to worked since now news is he wants to go back to initial renewal offer on same salary?

Lets assume all the above happend to the best of our knowledge. What would you done differently?

Are we thinking about the same player and same tactics?

Motta's tactics demand precise passing, possession rotation, and first touch from almost every player but ESPECIALLY the midfielders and the CAM because with quick touch distribution and passing poor first touch or poor passing is literally the death of that tactic.

Weston has an awful first touch and has awful passing outside of his crossing last season. This guy regularly brutalized our midfield possession and was a common culprit in us losing possession. How the fuck is he going to get anything done in Motta's system much less contribute to the cycling of possession using quick touches to breakdown opponents?

But hey I'm an American and a Juventus supporter so if he can suddenly become a totally different player than the one we've seen the last three years I'm all for it. I want nothing less than to see these dudes succeed.

Not necessarily. It could be that McKennie wanted too much money initially, and now reality had set in for him that his best bet is to accept jj offer. Now don't get me wrong i still think giuntolis style is too abrasive.
