probably because he can be expected to run until the final whistle. i don't see any other reason. wes is a cool guy and a good athlete, i can't shit on his workrate, but rarely comes across as a good football player

It's because we are half forced to play a 442 and he is the only one of our mids that can play that RM role. Cuadrado does it the other times, but even he has looked bad with age.

It's the same as we saw last season with Rabiot on the left, now Kostic arrived as a proper LM and we haven't seen that again. McKennie getting so much time speaks to poor squad building.

Allegri said he envisioned it as a 433 and didn't mention McKennie in the midfield 3, not as the first sub either. He is simply Allegri's balancing player in midfield because no formation works with the current healthy players we have.
