He seems average to me. He is not Vidal level in athletism... he doesnt have good build up skills, he is not a superb ball recoverer.... he doesnt have a great shot.

It seems he is good getting into the area and picking goals ala Khedira but i dont like midfielders like that.

He is not bad, but he is average IMO
I disagree completely. Vidal was average when we signed him as well, but he flourished by playing in a three man midfield, essentially operating like an attacking midfielder and that led to his impressive involvement in goals and assists. We should wait at least until january before we make desicion on McKennie, because the coming tactics will fit him perfect. McKennie showed a lot of grinta last season, while playing RM (too wide positioned), and CM in a two man midfield. Theres a world difference to a three man midfield and Pirlos two man.

McKennie is a starter in my books for the RCM spot, going:

LW - F9 - RW
Rabiot - Locatelli - McKennie
LB - CB - CB - RB

Wat?

He was Bundesliga team of the season and led Leverkusen to a 2nd place finish with his 10 goals - 11 assists in league play, and 4.7 tackles per game. There’s a reason Bayern Munich so desperately wanted him. Vidal 2010-11 was 10 times the player Mckennie currently is.

Average. Wat a load of bollocks. Lol

He is right though that its the only guy showing grinta in our midifield and he was the only one who could constantly win second balls last season, my only concern as I said is his fitness.
What grinta? What balls was he winning? He averaged 1 tackle and 0.8 interceptions/match last season in Serie A. Those are lower numbers than B81’s favourite super pussy, Pjanic ever averaged for us.

Mckennie was good at making runs into the box and chipping in the occasional goal, and good at providing energy in the mid by running around like a madman with zero positional awareness. I like his raw attributes but there are some strange misconceptions about his game.

I stand corrected. I never realised how high profilic a transfer it was when Beppe signed him. I remember it as if everyone thought it was meh and smokescreen for something far better.. But it was obvious even then, that Vidal was a fantastic player? Im kinda shocked by his stats for Leverkusen in 10/11..

Maybe its because of the low transfer fee, nobody got excited for him... To date one of Beppes best signings indeed

If 30-35m offers come just sell him and go for Gosens, with this move we like kill 3 birds with 1 stone if we put an 45-50m buyback clause as the condition for McKennie sale

1. we will improve massively in left back
2. we can loan out Pellegrini again for him to improve more (will be best if we just give him on free loan to Atalanta to replace Gosens, Atalanta only need to pay his wages). We will get fruitful improvement for Pellegrini
3. We still have 1 hand in McKennie if he turn out to become a world beater (because we will not play him much currently) and if we have spare money in the future based on our results in UCL in 1 or 2 years we can redeem him back when we sell or offload the real deadwood of our midfield. And if he does not improve well just dont buy him back and move on

McKennie runs a lot so he gets compared to Vidal.

He is much more like Khedira without the GOAT reading of the game. His thing is running into the box and attacking space while pressing.
:agree:

Was just going to say this, he’s more like a Khedira with low football IQ than a Vidal. Vidal averaged over 5 tackles/game. Mckennie averages under 1.5. He’s not a ball winner in the slightest.

Vidal average  He was the best mid in Bundesliga at that time, it was a real coup by Marotta to get him so cheaply.

It's not so obvious that McKennie will play ahead of Bentancur but I'd assume that he will play a lot and rotate with him.

Other than these two points, agreed

He maybe wasn't well known yet outside of germany, but those who followed Bundesliga knew we were gonna get a great player, and Bayern fans were super butthurt as well. That was a nice bonus on top of it.

The transfer fee was low because it was thefinal year on his contract, Bayer didn’t want to sell him to a rival team (lol) and football wasn’t crazy back then.

think we all can agree that he is not a world beater and if his sell brings us SMS or any other top mid then its world. If its done just to buy Pjanic, or get Tolisso from Bayern then no way.

Weston pretty much drive this campaign, with Juve pushing into US emerging market. Him being an American will surely help us expand. This video just released 5 min ago. I can't see us selling him right now..

Bit early to say he's limited. He's only 22, remember. He was in my view our best performing midfielder last season. And that's despite playing in a side which was playing pretty poorly. Selling him would be a mistake. Arthur on the other hand is a player we can well do without.

I think he will be sold if Juve can make some profit off him. And that would be a wise decision. Since his playing time will be limited, Bentan, Rabiot, Ramsey seems ahead of him in pecking order.

I don't think we can say already if they're ahead or not. Max was preparing the team for the opener with Udinese for which Weston is suspended. That's why Bentancur and Ramsey got more playing time in friendlies.

I think this rumor is BS to gain some clicks in US.

Only ramsey is a question mark. I believe Ramsey will be used as vice Loca.
Bentan(McDonalds)-Loca(Ramsey)-Berna(Rabiot)

I still believe in Weston. He had some really good stretches from December-February where he was vital for us.

Fell off as the season progressed but Pirlo did so much weird tactically and never stuck to using him where he was effective.

He was MoM at Camp Nou as well if I remember correctly. I want to see him a full season under Allegri before we give up on him.

If we end up selling him, the replacement better be a proper one. Gtting 30-35M even 3 years installment is still good money. Don't waste that money to buy tolisso or pay pjanic wages.
If we still keen on regista, at very least buy paredes.

Go for Gosens, loan out Pellegrini and give McKennie spot to Fagioli as Arthur still injured. I feel we better grooming our Fagioli to become the kind of Zaniolo of Roma to challenge our other midfielders. And we need that kind of depth for our left back
