although he scored a good goal against depo that put us in the CL quarter finals! but this guy still needs to work on his game!!
As a midfielder, I agree, but if he is anywhere near as good in defence as he was last time he played there for a significant period, then he is much better than Montero now.

in the second half against Milan he played in defense as montero was definitly out of shape and i consider the second goal to be his mistake!!!

i was pretty impressed by his performance and i sure hope Lippi uses him more in defense as we definitly do need him there!

What season are you talking about cos its surely not this season. Montero for me has to go down as one of our best ever defenders but lately he has not been able to cut it

He is not even getting yellow cards anymore which means his aggressive nature and strength are no more in evidence

If Tudor is as good as you guys suggest then he should be played there and not in midfiled where he always seems lost

Ferrara and Montero are no more a formidable patnership, they can get by in serieA where there isnt as much attacking, less pace and linesmen bailing them out of sticky situations by blowing for imaginary fouls and offsides but in Cl they are cruelly exposed
Unfortunately Denco is right. Ferrara and Montero just aren't up to CL level now, and if they are the central defensive pair that face Barcelona, then we'll have to hope for a miracle if we are to qualify for the semifinals, and even more so for the finals when we will have to beat either Man Utd or Real Madrid to get there.

have some faith in the team people!!!!

against Man U in old trafford we played a good game although we were missing alot of key players!
and in the second leg! they played a decent game while most of our team if not all played a stinker! it happens in soccer!!!
    be a little bit optimistic!

I personally like Ferrara. I thin he's really reliable and consistent.

Although playing Montero in midfield would be interesting. He is a ball winner, but what happens after he wins the ball? I usually see him give away the ball with his long balls that are so carelessly placed.

Ferrara is reliable and consistent, but only because Lippi takes measures to make sure he doesn't wear out. The trade-off is that Montero has to play more, and he is playing like crap.

2 seasons ago he was good.

last season he made many many mistakes though they went unnoticed because the other teams didnt take advantege!

i've never felt comfortable with him in the line-up since last season.

I think its amazing how everyone criticises Montero after EVERY game, whereas they are willing to accept Ferrara's mediocre performances, eg. Man United and the Milan game on saturday!

can we have just a little consistency please, instead of being so sentimental? I can accept Montero playing like crap but there seems an unfair bias towards ferrara

You of all people claiming an unfair bias! Your nick is Paolo Montero, could you friggin be more biased towards him? I think not. At least I don't claim to have an unbiased opinion of VDS and Gigi.

I'm not being biased at all! He played crap on saturday, yes I have accpeted that and I am very diappointed in his performance. All I want is for people to acknowledge that ferrara was also bad, but everyone us always praising him yet saying that Montero was crap!

which is ridiculous given that ferrara was also poor in the match!

I think that in general Ferrara has been the better player this year, and that Montero has made more mistakes and more crucial ones at that. Now of course, Ferrara is not perfect, but I'd say that he's been a lot better than Montero looking at the season as a whole.

alright, OK I can see that, thats fair enough, but I still think people should be giving people marks and comments for the game in question rather than the whole season, and there is no way that Ferrara did Ok and Montero did crap.

    they both did crap!

maybe, but Montero is consistently crappy, and thus he is the problem. I mean everyone has off-games, but Montero is making a bit of a habit of it.
