I know this sounds a bit odd, but unless you are that nationality, do you think it is right to call the nation you support we? (edit)

I always call italy we, since i am italian. But however, i always call ireland We aswell, since i have plenty of irish family, but however do not have irish blood in me.

What do you think? Do you have to be italian to call italy we, or not?

No. I only say "we" when I'm talking about groups I'm involved in. For example, I say we when I'm talking about Juventus, Bosnia, my school, etc. If I aint a part of it I dont say "we"

Well, im just wondering whether a, lets say for the sake of arguement, a spanish person should refer to the italian national team as 'we' if that was the team he/she supported.

So is it correct to ask, "Are 'we' going to beat Messina on Sunday?"

Argh...that doesn't sound right. I have nothing to do with Juventus' performance or their results.

I guess you can use it for representing a nationality though.
    i.e. "We Canadians like poutine."
