He asked for respect, not to play when there are more deserving players at the time, such as Luca Toni in this case.

I seriously think that Lippi got his team selection wrong today though. Toni and Camo should've started IMO, if they had Lippi would have been able to bring in Del Piero.

It was a reaction to Capello asking him to warm up and include Zalayeta instead. What did Lippi do today? He made him warm up and included Toni instead.
