When Italians play for a draw in 9 out of 10 cases they get one. I expect different showing vs Uruguay, as usually when it matters Italy rises to the occasion.

Wow, I did not expect Costa Rica to beat Italy, a draw maybe but a win was surprising. Not so much though when thinking back how Italy play in major tournaments especially at the group stages. I thought they looked a better side when they beat England in that manner but then again it was just England and it was wonderful to see them officially leaving the tournament now by the hands of a team that they have not played yet.

Things will be tricky against Uruguay, I expect Italy to play for a draw as usual and as usual they will fail because it is the worst approach ever. Uruguay will slaughter them if they play the waiting game and as I said a couple of days back, it will be by the hands of Cavani.

As for France, DOUBLE WOW!! I am really impressed, the team is mostly young with little experience but Deschamps is showing that he was a key player in 1998 and he is now translating it on the field from the sideline. I would be extremely happy if they go and win the whole thing.

So far my verdict for the best performance has been

Chile, Uruguay, Costa Rica from this side of the lake vs Germany, Holland, France from the other side.

Until yesterday it was Italy that impressed me the most but it changed after seeing yesterdays performance. I also think Argentina did fine, but we'll see how they do against Iran today. I'd also like France to reach far and possibly win it.

Nigeria - Bosnia

Predictions?

I think all three match are worth of watching today. I expect both Argies and Germans to dominate hard. I also expect Bosnia to win.

Of course an early goal is crucial, but both you, me and many others know that Italy won't push for that early goal considering that they enter the game as second in the group with a 0-0

I don't think Italy will play for a draw, Jack. I think we'll see a pretty similar game from them like that against England. I think Uruguay are gonna go all out on Italy, and that's what Italy likes due to their lack of creativity to hit on the counter. Suarez and Cavani don't help though, I guess.

Italy will probably go through, but then lose in the knockout rounds against Colombia in Rio.

I expect a similar tournament to that in 2002 for them.

I think Germany are great but their lack of a proper forward can somehow be a draw back at later stages. I know that they have a legend but I am not sure he can still play as needed at this stage.

I think they are capable of finishing a game even without one since they have so many players who can score and decide the game on their own. I also think in some matches Podolski will do just as fine, as he's always pretty good for Germany. And yeah, there's also a killer Klose who can play in the second half. I believe they will do just fine and IMO they will reach at least semis.

I don't really rate him. But for Germany he was always quite good and powerful.
