Dint you say that you've been watching football since 2006 ?
I bet you're no older than rakib.Maybe 1 or 2 yrs older.
what? i never said that

Baggio was great in both 90 and 94, defenitely a better WC player then Iniesta. But for that makeshift lineup, Baggio would be competing with the strikers, and notice how they only included WC winners more or less (exceptions like Cruyff ofcourse) hence no Baggio.
thats probably right, but even if so, Pirlo should be ahead of Iniesta.

Yeah, because when teams like Italy, Germany, or Brazil won it, it was all because of one standout player. Zidane was horrible the year France won the World Cup.
:howler:

it was a team victory, they hadnt had a player stainding out. maybe he was their most important player, but he wasnt carrying them on his back...

and that formation just sucks. why is every "team of something" having only 3 defenders, no CM/DM just a bunch of strikers and AMs? where is Cafu? the only player in the history of the World Cups that played 3 straight WC finals, most WC appereances, most WC wins... also, both Buffon 2006, and Kahn 2002 where far more impresive than Casillas 2010, they are probably more GKs that had amazing tournaments, so he too has nothing to do there
he also carried them to the final, and if it wasnt for that red card, and Domenech taking Henry out just before the penalties, who knows what might have happened... for the bolded part, ofcourse it wasnt like this. but they all had a leader on the field, a player who would lead the others when things dont go as planed. Iniesta isnt such, he is in that list just because Spain won the WC and a spanish paper made that team. both Robben and Sneijder had better WCs 2010 than him, Pirlo 2006 was also much better, not to mention the earlier WCs with Baggio 1994 etc. Iniesta played one solid WC so far in his career, scored a goal in the final and suddenly some people put him in the same team with those greats.

Klose is there mainly because he scored 14 WC goals and may become the all time leader this summer (Ronaldo has 15). he is also the only one who had 3 great WCs in a row (2002-5 goals, 2006-5 goals, 2010-4goals) but youre right, this isnt enough to be in this team. Baggio is definetly ahead.

and there shoudl be more DMs/CMs in such teams. its not like only atacking players play football...

Best Italian player in the last few decades.

you didnt watch the WC 1994? it was in your country.

and Baggios WC 1994 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Iniestas 2010. its not even a contest...
The guy singlehandedly led Italy to the final. Without him they wouldn't pass Nigeria in the 2nd round. Only minutes separated Africans from creating the biggest sensations on the tournament, and Baggio stepped up, scored one in the dying minutes and added another one in extras; scored double in the semis vs Bulgaria as well, who btw disposed formidable German side in the quarters. Baggio >>>>Iniesta, no matter how you put it.

Cassilas ahead of Buffon and Kahn in that line-up

Maradona as CM

They always make this ridiculous line-ups without any kind of balance.

Let me put it this way, Iniesta brought in the goods for his country, and Baggio has been shooting blanks. Iniesta will be remembered for being decisive, Baggio for succumbing like a little bitch under pressure.

In a few years, let alone few decades, very few will remember Iniesta, while Baggio's legacy is eternal. Idividual accolades that he won during his career are nothing short of impressive.

Pretty sure everyone will remember Iniesta. Especially after this world cup.

I don't understand why some people disregard him like that when he's one of the best players of all time but whatever. It's not like that diminishes his accomplishments at all.

Never got why there was only an Azzurri thread, so...

Here you can support the glorious African teams, write about them in general or in more specific ways.

Example: African teams are so awesome! Iran too!

By who? Butthurt Italien fans? Iniesta will be remembered by every Spaniard and every Barcelona fan, he is an icon for both teams. Baggio is an icon for an overpeforming Italy that fucked up in the end, club wise, he'll be remembered as the "genius" that got kicked out by Ale, and floated out and about.

Baggio and Iniesta are very different players, position and talent wise; what Baggio could do on the pitch is pure magic, dribling past 3-4 guys was standard for him, Iniesta doesn't have fraction of his talent, nor decisiveness, and it's pointless to continue comparision between these two. Iniesta is fine player, but falls short of Italian in many areas of the game. Ask anyone from that period who saw him, probably will tell you the same. Vision, dribbling, set pieces, finishing, intelligence, etc...

Iniesta is part of the greatest Spanish side, but he's not the one that stands out, there are many others equally good or better than him. Baggio could make an average side look like a world-beater. FFS the guy when he had 38 yo was still one the best players in Serie A, making it possible that minnows like Brescia stay above relegation zone.

Iniesta is probably the most technical person of this era and is currently the best Spanish player. Of course he fucking stands out.
