Needless to say we will go to Brazil via a bar in Antigua.

But yeah -- the hotels, etc., were even worse than the ticket situation. If you want to sleep somewhere that you or your gf doesn't have to take turns keeping watch for gangs of thugs coming through your windows, you're gonna have to spend that kind of money on a hotel.
