Yeah, that sounds incredible. Feel free to invite me if you have a spare ticket. :p
I can't remember where you are from. It's somewhere in the Balkans, right? Is your team playing? :)
Yes, Croatia is playing. We most probably won't make the group, though. Brazil are certain to win, while Mexico, even though they aren't really better than us, will have a big advantage over us. Their players are mostly home based, so everything from the weather, climate, crowd support will be on their side. Even the fourth team in the group, Cameroon, aren't inferior to Mexico and Croatia.

We're playing considerably better since Kovac took over. If Stimac was in charge I would agree with you assessment; that team from the 1st game with him at helm looked without ideas, lost, fragile, players massively underperformed, atmosphere was ruined; but now things seem to be taking a new turn. We'll hardly repeat France '98, but 2nd round is within our reach. Brazil are strong favorites and they'll in all likeliness finish on top. We might just sneak past Mexico and Cameroon. Quality is there in abundance, Modrić, Srna, Mandžukić, Rakitić, etc... Weather conditions imho won't make that much of a difference. It's not like we're coming from Skandinavia and heat and humidity are familiar to us.

You are being too pessimistic. Your group isn't too bad (especially compared to the Euros). Sure, Mexico has the advantage of being used to the climate, but if I'm not mistaken, their current national team is one of the worst in a long time. @adRHCP or someone should confirm. I think you'll get through the group without much trouble.

Alen and Delpiero84, what would you say Croatia's strongest line-up is atm?

We changed coach and difficult to say what tactics and exact players we'll use just now, but in our last game it looked like this (bolded ones are probably guaranteed starters in any scenario):
Pletikosa
Srna Ćorluka Šimunić Pranjić
Modrić Rakitić
Perišić Kovačić Olić
Mandžukić

The team they played in the final qualifier was literally the starting line up from Club America.

That's not a bad team at all, better than Mexico's for sure.

I'll celebrate their win just like I celebrated 2006 title; I felt ecstatic seeing Buffon, Del Piero, Camoranesi and other Juventini winning the most important trophy; felt miserable after '94 WC, equally bad after unfortunate 2000 loss and will continue doing that without any regret, maybe even more than some Italian would for that matter. Naturally countries in which I grew up will always come first, but I find it completely within my right to cheer for whomever I pleased. Many people here cheer for Italy, somehow comes natural since most NT players play from Juve. That said I can understand if you'd prefer Argentina over Italy or USA. :p
Yeh, though I'd feel weird if I were to celebrate like crazy another country's win, I respect those who feel differently because who's to dictate how someone should feel? I actually don't even know how I'd react if the US won the WC, most likely laugh because some massive trolling must have been involved. :D

Actually, my first footballing memory was of WC1994 (I was 5, still several years before I started taking football seriously). Barely understood what was going on since I'd never watched it before, but I cried hysterically when Baggio missed the penalty because I thought his friends & family would hate him. I think that's partly why I still like Italy/Italian players today, even though most of them play for clubs I don't like. But yeah I like Argentina too, Spain as well though the latter has been boring me lately.

I'm supporting Italy since my parents are Sicilian and the majority of the team is Juve

I will also wish the best to the Swiss, Chileans, French, and Ghana for producing Licht, Vidal maybe Isla, Pogba, and Asamoah.

Several games moved to earlyer times cause of broadcaster pressure on Fifa to get higher ratings

number of fucks given that playing at 13h increases the chance for a heatstroke significantly compared to 18h : 0

number of media suggesting the games were moved for a better night of sleep : nearly all of them

Yeah you heard it, playing on 18h is bad for your sleep

Yeah, actually, our current national team had one of the worst displays ever for our side. But since the removal of de la Torre everything seems to be better. Now with a new coach the team is looking better, New Zealand is not a good parameter, but since it's mostly using a base of players from a team that was dominating the league, at least you can see that there's a better idea to deploy in the pitch, and also you can count now with the ones that play in Europe, like Héctor Moreno, Andrés Guardado, Aquino, Hernández, and so, and I wouldn't be surprised if Diego Reyes or Carlos Vela where called; players like those can potentiate our team.

I'd expect something like

Corona

Reyes-Márquez-Moreno

Aguilar-Peña-Medina-Montes-Guardado

Peralta-??????

Mostly unknown players for everyone here I guess

You don't think it will be worth it? :D
I'm sure it would but i have other things in mind, that would delay those things for a long, long time.

Pretty good team. In fact i can see Croatia getting past group stage. Mexico nowadays is complete shit.
