So if Italy win, England still has a chance to progress? Pathetic.

Hodgson is such an idiot. Both matches thus far he has said he has no idea how they lost, as though England were somehow the superior side!

wrong :p if italy doesnt win england is out
EDIT: You are right but the difference is that now they are hoping for an Italy win which is very likely to happen while if Costa Rica had lost or drew they must have been hoping for an Azzurri loss which was logically never going to happen (I know I know I'm only trying to save face) :p
I wish I could rep you though :D

Why does Greece always make these competitions? They are the most boring team in the world.

Congratulations to England on their early exit, they are truly a worthless footballing nation. Apart from all the immos.

By the way, today reminded me of this tee shirt I should have purchased.

"I find it strange when people talk about Steven Gerrard and say 'he could be as good as Andrea Pirlo'. For me, Pirlo should be the one honoured to be mentioned in the same breath as Gerrard. I've already said this season Stevie is second only to Zinedine Zidane in terms of players I have worked with."

Dat english arrogance.

Fuck I hope Italy don't choke tonight. It's imperative that they win and confirm their place in the knockouts ...gonna be a tough next game against a Suarez inspired Uruguay.
An Italy win doesn't guarantee them a knockout berth. They need to hold up and get a point or at least be sure they are not behind on goal difference to make through.

Uruguay won't beat Italy with more than one goal, so if Italy wins tonight, they're basically through.
We're all looking at the situation from the English or Italian perspective, but it's Uruguay whose situation is the most interesting.

If Italy don't win today, then for Uruguay it's as clear as it gets - beat Italy and qualify. Logically, what suits Uruguay today is Italy not to win. But, imo, the best case for Uruguay is exactly the opposite scenario, where Italy wins and keeps England in the game. In that case England will play not only for honor but also for qualification against Costa Rica, while Italy will only care not to lose by 2 goals or more vs Uruguay. It's gonna be easier for the Uruguayans to win a point or three in the last round against relaxed Italians, compared to an Italy that fights for its life, while I can see Costa Rica losing to England.
