eh, that's not too surprising, they always pick what they show very carefully. While it might be exactly what you saw, the 94 WC got a ton of exposure in the US. Sure, the average American didn't really care, but unless you were in "deliverance" territory, the vast majority of normal people knew it was going on

The US will never have the football culture of Europe and South America, in all probability, because America has several other sports that a huge chunk of the populaltion are very passionate about, rather than being completely focused on football.
