Lippi isn't a coach who doesn't change formations, he will do it when he sees the need for it, but it will be silly to give up on what you thought is the best formation after just one match, in which, tbh, Italy weren't bad.

Italy wasn't really good in the 1st half in my opintion. Especially Marchisio looked out of sorts in his position. In the 2nd half when they subbed Marchisio and switched to 4-4-2 they looked a lot better. But at least we know that if it doesn't work now against New Zealand, it's not going to work against anyone.

You probably had expectations Hamsik to be a player like Ronaldinho, Baggio, Kaka. He's not the type. Think more of Ballack, Lampard, even De Rossi in certain aspects of his game. Imagine those players in Slovakia. What would you expect from them?
Just because they wouldn't have made something flashy, would that have made them bad players? Even in an average team like Napoli, they can't imagine playing without him. Hamsik isn't a player who will be a big fish in a small pot. Watch him in Slovakia and you'll see that. He's a player whose real value will be seen in a great team. What he's doing for Napoli will be even more visible if he's playing for a great team.
Unlike players like Quaresma or Zarate who will make some fans go crazy watching them play for a small team, but who will always fail in a big team.

The maturity in Hamsik's play and his nose for a goal will make him succeed with ease.

first of all, you need to stop assuming so many things.

and second, have watched him ever since Juve returned to Serie Ain 07-08, y'all have been raving about this kid ever since, or at least that's when I started watching out for him in Napoli games...has a great eye for goal, always at the right place at the right time, but other than that, has never struck me as anything truly remarkable.
