I disagree with you but I can't help notice that what you're saying is pointed at the exact same people who will say the same things you say when Italy loses and some others celebrate that defeat.

I celebrated Spain's defeat like mad today, simply because I really dislike Spain. Not a single member attacked me. I will do the same thing if Italy loses, and then I suddenly become a troll who's celebrating Italy's defeat just to annoy people.

Gosh, some are fucking unbelievable.

I will act similarly about manchester, no doubt about it. In fact, in my last post I almost mentioned that I would celebrate in the same way if I saw Inter lose to say, Fulhma, in the CL or something. But at least there's a real rivalry there, I don't think that there's much of a Spain-Italy rivalry going on, especially if you consider that most people here support Italy without being Italian (which, I don't actually consider to be a bad thing)

and hey, if you really dislike Spain, then I don't see why you shouldn't celebrate their loss

This Spain shouldn't be considered a historically great team like some Brazils or Germanys of the past until they win the World Cup.

They don't have to win the World Cup, but they do have to be impressive and go far a couple of times.

I'm just sick of people trying to say this Spain team is as good as Holland '74/'78 or some of the great Brazil teams.

And in terms of the neutral perspective, most would like to see good possession and attacking play rather than defensive football. That's just natural as the game is about scoring goals.

Each to their own.

But say, aren't you one of those who believe that better matches and teams are found in the Euros instead of the World Cup? if so, then by your own logic, Spain really is a great team.

Not really.

I've argues that there are possibly slightly too many teams from Asia/Australsia, but I don't think I've ever said that the Euros is the better or tougher competition.

Do you remember Spain against Germany in 2008? That was one of the most boring football games ever. Spain had gotten the result and they were just passing the ball to each other. Germans were not good enough to do anything about that. Their matches are exciting as long as they need to score a goal. The moment they get it, they turn the game into a snoozefest.

Now compare it to the defensive teams. When they have the result, they can't pass the ball to each other to keep the possession so they have to defend, what they are best at. The game turns into a team attacking and the other defending which is IMO more exciting than one team passing the ball hundreds of time and the other running after it.

I prefer both teams trying to go out to win the match. That's what the purpose of the game is.

I'm personally tired of sides, including my own, taking the pitch not to lose. That has cost Juventus too many times in the past, so I'm not sure why people would prefer that mentality over others.
