You're actually helping my argument by connecting cultures to nations. That's exactly why someone from Lebanon or India should not be supporting the Azzurri. It's not their culture, it's not their country.

Thank you very much.
No, I'm not. Because there are three things you're missing. You're a very onedimensional guy and everything is black and white for you, so I will forgive you for not seeing all the nuances.

1. Culture changes all the time. It's impossible to define what the Italian culture is. It is certain that parts of it can be found outside of Italy too.
2. Culture is something you can acquire very easily. People absorb culture all the time. A year in Italy is more than enough to know what Italian culture is all about (you don't have a clue by the way).
3. You don't have to be part of a certain culture to like it. Liking the culture is already enough to justify your support for a nation.

But these matters are obviously far too complex if you approach them with some fabricated ideas about allegiance to the flag and all that shit.

But you aren't part of the culture. That's the difference. Liking a culture is not the same as being part of it. You're a fucking Belgian, not an Italian.

If I apparently don't understand these issues, why are you wasting time with me then.

For example, how does the culture of Palermo and Milan compare?
Exactly. It all leaves very much room for debate and Andy clearly has no idea what he's talking about. Just yesterday it was all about your passport. If you have citizenship, you can support the nation. But some people have four passports and hell, there are even people out there who spent a lot of time in all four countries.. what the fuck is their nation? Who can they support? And what about countries that disintegrate? What about Serbia and Montenegro? Their nation sure as hell never changed. But their citizenship did. And now Andy thinks it's all about nation and culture.. so well.. what the fuck?

Guy hasn't got a clue obviously :D.
