it would have been great if after the game, Schewini went to maradona and gave him the longest staredown then laughed at his face (maybe give him the finger as well) for making fun of him.

that's what i would have done. turns out schweini has class unlike maradona.
If Maradona made fun of Schweini out of nowhere, then I'd join you in your critics.

But it wasn't the case Lion. It was a game. Schweinsteiger, out of nowhere, says in the press conference that the Argentinians are cheaters, divers and cry-babies. Of course, it was a plan to make the Argies nervous.

Instead of bothering his players with what Schweinsteiger said, Maradona, in Mourinho style, took everything on his head and he was the one who attracted all the attention and entered that war of words and jokes with the Germans. That way he at least left his players to work in peace.

He didn't insult the Germans. He simply reacted to what Schweinsteiger said about his players.

Some of you should really show some respect to one of the best if not the best player to play your favorite sport. I don't know why all this hate against Diego.

I wanted Germany to win and I cheered for them but I can't act like some of you here do and insult Maradona... One of the few men that still has passion for this game.

The only thing that was entertaining about this world cup was Maradona for me. But because Larissa decided to show up, I have something more to cheer for albeit for a few more hours. :D
I don't know if he's the greatest player of all time or not because I haven't seen him play. Even though he might be flawed as a human being or even as a player, the amount of sheer passion he shows for the game is immense. Haters can hate for all I care.

Even if he is right (and frankly, he is) you can't let something like that pass without a reply. Maybe you can do it, but you can't expect the same maturity from...Tevez. And since it's better not to distract the players, it was the only logical thing to do to let Maradona attract all the attention and make the German players nervous.

What an utterly great team this German side is. The way they defend, the way they counter attack, the way they press, the way they move off the ball for each other. They are the most dynamic team in the tournament, and in terms of off the ball movement they are one of the best i've ever seen. Notice the options that the guy with the ball has, everyone makes runs off the ball, everyone moves, everyone knows exactly what his role is. Despite the Germans having the hardest route to the final, they are just blowing teams away with their class. If they win this WC, i have to say, this is the most deserved WC in a long long time.

As for the Argentines, well you simply cannot play against a compact dynamic side like the German one with only one central midfielder. Masch tried as hard as he could but he was constantly outnumbered by Germany's midfield.

As for Messi, its games like these that show the difference between him and Zidane. Messi did not play a bad game at all today, in fact he was rather decent, he made a few dribbles and he made a defense splitting pass to Tevez and had a few dangerous shots. But the difference between him and Zidane, is that in a game like this, Zidane could play well and make the players around him tick. In games like these Messi might dribble a few players and have a few shots, but he doesn't really have as much influence on his teammates as Zidane does. One of the main reasons Zidane was a legend, and one of the main reasons a Domenech coached France NT reached the final in 2006.

Oh and who expected Schweini to turn out to be such a world class central midfielder. The guy does everything in midfield, he works hard, he defends, he intercepts balls, he makes forward runs, he distributes the ball, what does he not do in midfield?

How about Klose, his movement off the ball, the way he's a constant nuisance to defenses, his teamwork, his link up play, his hard work.

Khedira, Lahm, Podolski, Ozil, Friedrich, Neuer. All of them are having fantastic tournaments.

i don't actually care that much about maradnoa's reaction, even if it was a dick move. it's just funny watching the hypocirtes here laugh at maradona's actions praising him as funny and awesome, when if mourinho had been doing it then he is a dick and an asshole.

Müller's yellow can be retracted: correct?
Dunno.

It's certain that all the yellows will be deleted from the next game, so all those who go to the semis with 1 yellow card, will go back to 0 yellows and won't miss out on the final or the 3rd place match if they get a yellow in the semis.
Those who got the 2nd yellow or a red in the quarters, won't play in the semis.

Can FIFA retract a yellow or a red, I don't know.

Didn't Tim (Aussie player) Cahil have a card retracted?
