I can see where they're coming from: only UEFA has true professionals. Unfortunately they are also the only organisation that set standards high enough.

Something ought to be done. I hope it'll be instant replay, but I think they won't allow it, because that way you can never influence a game.
again I agree, instant replay would help SO much. Just for offsides, goals, and red cards even, would barely sl0w the game down at all, and would give the game a lot more credibility. FIFA needs to realize that it's ok to admit that human refs make errors, and that it's better to have a backup system than to have the horrible decisions we've seen in this WC.

And as for that goal, wow....I hope SA go through for their sake, even though Uruguay and Mexico are clearly the best in this group

The Euros are definitely becoming a better tournament quality wise. Brazil and Argentina are fun and add a lot. But America? No, I'd rather watch Russia.
You make it sound like the European referees are something special.

They're not. Just look at all the complaining this past season with regards to calls, in all the top three leagues. :howler:

They're a lot better than everyone else unfortunately. They're not perfect, but they're way better. The top contenders for the final are European too by the way. Is there 1 good American ref by the way?
