Toni? If you see him take penalties for Fiorentina you can understand why Toni isn't considered in Lippi's plans, yet.
Not sure about Iaquinta, but his penalties too doesn't really impressed me while in Udinese.
It is not surprising that Lippi intended to use Materazzi as a penalty taker to let Barthez think where he will hit. I do think Lippi studied his players on how they take penalties. To be honest despite people laughing about Barthez and stuff, he does watch videos of how players take the penalties, and he picked out some of Italy's penalties correctly.
But I think that Lippi's choice of players is to let Barthez figure out who will shoot where. Of course Barthez knows that Pirlo and DP will be picked, since their penalties are unpredictable. About the other 3, they are less known, so Barthez has to guess where will Grosso, De Rossi and Matrix hit. But if it is Lehmann, it will be harder since he is so tall and agile, and Germans never lost in penalties.
One thing that makes me wonder is about Buffon. Does he watch the videos of how each French take their penalties? He got it completely wrong, only to be saved by Trezeguet's crossbar shot. But the good thing is nobody shot like how Ayala does it.

wtf is this! Fabio deserves it more than any player! Zidane?????????????????????????????????????? HE PLAYED ONLY 2 GAMES against spain & brasil & he was thrown out in the final! all of iaquinta's goals this season have been penalties man.. u're right about toni, though he was good in the beginning and then lost confidence. it's a scary business

Lehmann's instincts are even better than him
poor canna, that he couldnt get the award...but i guess getting the world cup is way more important.Although it was wrong, am guessing fifa wanted to give zidane something to be remembered for in the world cup.Thats the only reasoning i could think of.
congrats to Italy, Campione Del Mundo.They did well overall, but i think they didnt do well in the final.It doesnt matter, though as they won it fair and square and they conceded from a "dive" penalty.
Some of the french players gave their best but i guess the system failed them and they couldnt break the defence or the gigi.
anyway i enjoyed the tournament, the toughest team won it.

Zidane deserved the baddest player in the world cup giving him best player after that is laughtable and he played good only in 2 games and i dont know if fifa are true sports men.. what cannavaro have done in this world cup is really magic... great takles,closing spaces,covering, defending all over the place and its him who cutted every team attacking,made very few fauls, very strong on the air he got ebove everyone he jumped with even the tall forwards like viduka and made some really intersting clearance, no yellow card??? whats more?
