I really cant take thuram's face after the game out of my head.I love Lilian,I love his spirit he is one of the most decent players I ever saw! He cried like hell! Hard Luck Lilian & hope to see u in Juve's shirt next season!
Feel really sad for Thuram after what he did for France and Juventus.
Came out of retirement to help his national team and was just minutes away from the WC trophy, and now the news of Juventus must have hit him quite bad
Resigned to the cruel fate I would say

I did not like zidane at juve and i really hate him now. Sure, he has all the talent in the world, but he is supposed to be a professional. Anything an opposing player says to you during the match should be ignored by a true professional. Do you mean to tell me that no one has ever insulted Del Piero during a match? Did he headbutt the opposing player? No!! Zidane has real issues. He is a punk and a thug. He cost his team the championship (I'm glad they lost, by the way), and if I were his team mates I'd be kicking his ass right now. Nice way to end the last and biggest game of your life a**hole!!! Good riddance; football is better off without you.

Zidane blames Materazzi insults

The moment Zidane headbutted Materazzi to the ground

Zinedine Zidane's agent says the France captain headbutted Marco Materazzi in Sunday's World Cup final because the Italian made a "very serious" comment.

"He told me Materazzi said something very serious to him but he wouldn't tell me what," agent Alain Migliaccio told BBC Five Live Sport.

Sources in France say it is believed Materazzi insulted Zidane's mother.

Migliaccio, who spoke to Zidane early on Monday morning, added that Zidane did not elaborate on what Materazzi said.

"I don't know. Zinedine didn't want to talk about it but it will all come out in the next week," he said.

"He is a man who normally lets things wash over him but on Sunday night something exploded inside him.

"He was very disappointed and sad. He didn't want it to end this way."

The France squad arrived back on Monday and went straight to a lunch reception hosted by President Jacques Chirac.

Zidane was also in attendance and the French politician offered his support to the under-fire Real Madrid player.

Chirac said: "Dear Zinedine, in such a hard and intense moment for you, I would like to express the whole nation's affection and admiration for you.

"You are a virtuoso, a genius of football and an exceptional human being. That is why France admires you."

Meanwhile, France defender William Gallas was adamant Zidane was provoked into the headbutt.

"I didn't see it but sometimes football is not only with the ball," the Chelsea star told BBC Sport.

"Sometimes when you have a player who is very clever and says something to you then maybe you are angry and want to 'kill' that player.

"Maybe, and I say maybe, he has made a mistake."

Materazzi refused to answer questions afterwards and Gallas saw that as an admission of guilt by the Italian.

"I don't know what he said. You'll have to ask him but he's gone. I know why he's gone because maybe he's done something wrong."

On his way back to the dressing room after his 110th-minute dismissal, Zidane passed the World Cup trophy.

It brought a sad end to his glittering career and his misery was compounded when France went on to lose 5-3 on penalties.

"Zidane didn't say anything," said Gallas. "He was very disappointed for everybody - for the team and himself.

"I'm very sad for him. It was his last World Cup and everybody wanted to win for him.

"We deserved to win but that is life. I think we played very well and better than Italy but sometimes football is very strange.

"Everybody is disappointed. I hope we will maybe win next time."

The father of Marco Materazzi believed his son was the real victim in the incident.

"I spoke to my son briefly after the game," said Giuseppe Materazzi.

"Marco had told me he had been provoked. It's as though they have something against him each time.

"In the past two years, Marco has only been on the receiving end and the injuries he has sustained are proof of this.

"I don't want to be controversial, but there are things that have to be said instead of just pointing the finger and putting a black mark against someone."

By the way, how the hell did Zidane win the golden ball? I think a guy named Fabio Cannavaro deserved it more!!

True that, but Fifa made some sort of compensation to France and Zizou...but it is not fair Canna deserved the golden ball!

Thuram was a monster in this Cup. Unfortunately there's only one winner, and fortunately it wasn't France. :D However, France has a lot to be proud of for the valiant effort they put in.

But I can't hold too much sympathy for them given their success in '98 and '00...

The Indipendent: "Materazzi diede del 'dopato juventino' a Zidane"
10 07 2006

--------------------------------------

the independent newspaper say´s that Materazzi has told Zidane that he is "a doped juventino"..

in this case Zidane should be our hero:D

forza Zizou,
but seriously we all know what an interista (I mean asshole) Materazzi is. I can imagine that he said something bad. and actualy I am sad because of the way Zidane leaves football.

Yesterday was unbeleivable !!!!!! Absolute magic. I will remember this day forever thankfully differently to the way 94 is scarred into my memory.
The saddest aspect of yesterdays game was definately Thuram's weeping. His dedication to club and country is massive so it hurt but I guess u win some and lose some.
About the Zizou incident. I feel really peeved that just because it is Zizou, he should get some sort of amnesty. I can guarantee that if that was some other player, some people would not even bother excusing it. Rules are rules and they apply to you wheather u r bald, world player of the year 3 times or crazily wealthy.
That said, I feel sorry for him. He could have finished his career decently but blew it. No wonder why Pele survives as an unchallenged legend. Maradona falls to crack and now Zizou does this.....

Zidane has an attitude problem, and whatever Matrix said to him Zizou defintely shouldn't punch him(he harmed his team),but it is all over now.
