Nedved suffers knee scare Thursday 8 June, 2006
Juventus ace Pavel Nedved is an injury concern for the Czech Republic after he picked up a knock in training today.
The former European Footballer of the Year accidentally clashed with teammate David Rozehnal which resulted in him pulling out of the practice game.
"The knee hurts and that forced him to quit training," said Czech team doctor Petr Krejci. "We hope that it won't be anything serious and he will be fit."
Nedved received treatment on the injury for 15 minutes before he limited himself to a light running session.
Team doctors will carry out tests on the player over the 24 hours in an effort to fully clarify his situation.
The Czech Republic, who are in Group E along with Italy, kick off their campaign on Monday when they take on the USA.
The former Lazio man initially retired from international football after Euro 2004, but returned for the World Cup play-offs to aid their Germany ’06 qualification.
