Cheers boss, right now im bored with revision so i find myself here.

I agree having two holding midfielders is dangerous but it makes us undeniebly stable. This should allow for camo and neddy to play more attacking free roles. With one of them attacking set pieces, i kinda like the way they play. The problem (if there is a problem) imho is that our winger do not always complete the job well enough.

Imho rambo's biggest strengths are his pace and crossing...in a three man defence he will have no attacking allowance...this would be a waste imho.

I agree 100%...But sadly we're not seein this under Capello, atleast I didn't see this happenin this year. Zambrotta is not the player I used to know under Lippi.
I used to Enjoy watching him, when he was his "style" and I mean his style, running towards Dp opening Space with him and with midfielders, crossing, shooting etc, I dont see him now doing this, I see Capello putting him on the right and moving Chiell back on the right which is not helping to be honest. I mean when you have one of the best players on planet in that position, why not Play him there??? So as long as Capello is trying stuff and playing his boring 4-4-2, I prefer to see Zambo in a 3 man defence.

Sure Zambrotta could do it. Though it'd be waste, as John pointed out. You'll lose so much of Zambrotta's skills, playing him as cb. I think both Zambrotta and Chiellini's performances have been underrated so far this season, those two are usually the ones to initiate an attack.
I can't say that Zambrotta is unhappy at right-back, i'd have to hear him say that...
I'm not really a huge fan of a 3 man defence myself anyway, as you'll be weak on the flanks. The only way to make a 3-man defence work, is to play with to wingbacks who both attack and defend; Zambrotta and Chiellini. Though considering that, you'd have more of a 5 man defence anyway.
Nedved and Camoranesi would never properly function as wingbacks, it would also marginalise their offensive influence.

you can actually figure it out without Zambo telling that he's not the one he used to be....The thing is that Capello doesn't really give a chance for Zambrotta to attack...not at all...I mean we have Patrick and Emerson for nothing, yeah sometimes I do feel we're wasting our time fielding them when our flanks cant attack...Chiellini hasn't been bad But in his position Zambo can do wonders...Just like his 2003 season and 2004. he became worlds best.

Anyhow you have a point about the 3man defence, But giving it a shot will surely give us an Idea.

I guess one could always try. As I said in my previous post though, I do not think Zambrotta has not attacked. He is taking some time getting properly adjusted to his role, but he has had quite a few games where he often took the initiative to combine with Camoranesi. Plus, I think Chiellini has some serious potential and he will be part of our line-up for years to come. Chiellini was second to only Zambrotta in serie A last season, at the age of 20.

chiellini has huge potential... thus needs to be exploited. Rambo is top class anywhere..heck why not try rambo lb and chie rb....that would confuse them.

Zlatan is too heavy to be running back and forth. With those legs he will get tired very fast and he will not be able to practice with the team because his legs might get over-worked. You don't see big dudes do running long distances you know. The problem with Ibra this season has been his legs too.

We should not play 3 man defense. We have better defensemen than offensive players overall imo and we lack the creativity and speed on our midfield that is needed in a 3 man defense.

have been watching Juve games for some time now, and consider myself a fairly knowledgeable fan with experience playing in high level youth leagues in the U.S. This is my take on the current state of the Juventus team, and I would like to start a discussion regarding some of the problems that hamper the teams' sucess.

Problem #1-
Zambrotta cannot play on the right flank. By playing at right back, Zambrotta crowds out Camorenesi and they do not link up well. This limits Camos effectivness on the right flank by sending in balls, getting shots off, etc. Moreover when Zambrotta plays on the left, his exteme fitness and ability allows Nedved to float inside to a more traditional role of an attacking midfielder, thus taking long-range shots and providing diagonal through balls which are sorely missing at the moment. This is part of the reason I believe for the offensive stagnation present in Siena and Lazio games.

Problem #2-
Trezeguez is invaluable because of his goalscoring potential, but he does not contribute much to the offensein other fashions. This forces Ibra to have to do to much creatively, and to cover too much ground. As a result he becomes frusterated, and his immaturity shows through in poor effort levels, such as pouting his way through the Siena game. Zambrotta helps this problem by covering the entire left flank, thus allowing Nedved to take over some of the creative responsibilities. However, a more creative forward pairing of Mutu/DP and Ibra would probably be more effective all-around. However, because Trez can score at any moment, he is probably undroppable.

These two reasons I believe are partly responsible for the stagnation on offense.

I will now put forward a hypothetical scenario to see what changes could be made in the next summer.

Juve wins Seire A-- no surprise there
Juve wins CL-- narrow victory over Barca in the final
After good run in WC, Nedved retires
Capello moves to Real Madrid to link up with Cassano
Trez is transferred by Moggi to maybe Arsenal as a replacement for Henry after he moves to Barca
Therefore--
We now need a left winger, a coach, a good right back (we dont have one now) and maybe a sucessor for Thruam in center defense

Give me ideas about transfer possibilites
And other tactical ideas

Exaclty my thoughts, this is why Sagnol is so important for us. And as you say, Trez is not that much involved in the game other than scoring which leaves Ibra with a very hard objective. We need a fast left winger, although Nedved is still keen on playing football I don't think he is as fast and sharp as he was a couple of years ago. Palacio or Ballack could provide Zambrotta lots of space and creativity with crosses and such on the left flank. Henry is a better outside of the box than Trez but if we just deliver great passes to Trez he will prove he's the best box-player in Europe.

I used this formation(attacking in the first half, normal in the second)

I had won the first leg also(3-2)

then camo got injured and i sub-ed him with mutu, i also chansed the lineup, i used(attacking):

But it didnt work, ibra made some passes and long range shots, but something was missing.....so i was 3 goals behind and i used 3 man attack then, and you know what , straight away 2 goals game, one trez, other ibra, and it ended 4-3-
I could not get another goal, and 6-6 after two games....and real went through(away goals)


The thing is, 4 man defens worked, 3 man didnt....ibra made some long range shots....but even then i we didnt play that well in attack(i have played a lot of games already) so i chansed it, i used 3 man attack

But also, its a game...in the game ibra plays as a forward well, also scores often, but in the real life(you know yourself), i think that capello should put him in the midfield, but i dont know whats the ideal lineup...because the guy cant defend, and cant run very much, so maybe somekind of LAM(left attacking midfielder)

Ou, and one thing more.....i dont think 3 man defens will work...maybe in the seria a agaisnt smaller teams...but in CL its 4 man....they are used to use it, and 3 man defens really cant be trusted....

Deploying Zlatan as an attacking midfielder is a very interesting idea. It means that we don't have to put up with his inadequate finishing and he can really concentrate on what he's good at; dribbling and creating. He can hold the ball up allowing Nedved, Camoranesi, Vieira or whoever might be playing in midfield to get into advanced positions or he can run at defences. However, if this is to be successful Zlatan has to improve his decision making, and drastically at that. If he doesn't release the ball early when he should this won't work and we can't have him shooting from 35 yards out every ten minutes either as he is no Lampard or Gerrard.
