Juventus have officially announced that Vincenzo Iaquinta has put pen to paper on a new contract tying him to the Old Lady until June 2013.
The Italian striker, who on several occasions has been close to leaving the Stadio Olimpico, has been rewarded for his efforts.
In the second part of this campaign the former Udinese player, who made 18 Serie A appearances and scored 12 goals, was perhaps Juve’s best player helping them reach second place.
The highlight of his season was undoubtedly his opener against Chelsea in the Champions League’s last 16 clash as well as his equaliser at San Siro against Milan.
Zenit St. Petersburg were in pole position to secure his services last January while many other clubs have been monitoring the negotiations.
However, President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli has appreciated the player’s attachment to the Bianconeri shirt and highlighted him as an example for others to follow.
“He is untouchable and that’s why we have renewed his contract,” explained Cobolli Gigli.
As a result Iaquinta will be an established part of the Old Lady’s attacking package next season alongside Amauri and Alessandro Del Piero while David Trezeguet is officially on his way out from the club.
“The Frenchman has a done a lot for us but for champions like him you can always find a new home,” concluded the Bianconeri President.
