he had a great showing against NZ but that was a weak side the azzuri were facing

he made the most of his chances so i will not hate on the guy
Yes NZ was a weak side, but think about, why Toni showed nothing, neither did Rossi, or other strikers except Gila. So I say This guy deserves a starting XI for juve in most of the important games. He is far better than Amauri :)

weak side?....3 goals against italy's defence?...that's a horrible performance by the defence that used to call itself the best in the world. Anyways, good work from IQ...he is continuing his top form.

I still find it kind of strange that Iaq plays regularly for the national team. Typically you send your best players to the national team and feel as though that is the measure of highest achievement to be selected.

But in our case, Trez was frozen out despite being the most prolific scorer in Serie A for decades, DP was dropped because he's getting old. And Amauri was never selected to begin with. Meanwhile, we have Iaq who is a reserve, at least has been leading up to the last few months of the season. And then I saw Legro the other day, another reserve, wear the armband for Italy. :confused2

IQ has always been Lippi's favorite, and he has been playing well for the Azzurri lately... Legro's inclusion is because of Italy not having any better CBs of late... if Cannavaro and Chiellini are fit, then they play for sure... Lippi leaving out Cassanno each and every time and including the likes of Pepe is criminal to say the least...

well barcelona of 2007/08 didn't win shit, right? it's not healthy to have too many big names in your locker room, so i can understand Lippi. he is trying to learn from the mistakes of Trappatoni.

If you're goalie comes for the ball from a corner... and completely misses it, it's hard to blame the defenders surely?

That was 100% his fault anyway. Not lookin great on other occasions either if you ask me. But then again.. we're used to Buffen aren't we :D

Spain of 2008? Surely this current crop of players in Italy do not have bigger names than the lot which won in 2006, don't you think? Thats a lame excuse for not taking the best Italian player in the league... He's not being considered for non footballing reasons, and thats not fair... It wasn't fair on Trezeguet when he was snubbed, its not fair on Cassano either... Lippi is one of the best, but lately he has been playing too 'safe'... Maybe he's growing old...

On both the headed goals, the goal scorer(s) were free, there were no defenders to challenge the player... Thats the defence's fault... Amelia was ridiculous though...

For DP´s case i think it is OK. Dp is getting older....and the urge of replacing him is constant. Cassano is not a youngster but has many years more of football than DP. Also, DP is already a world champion and he doesnt have to prove anything to anyone. He did his job in the azurri.

Of course is sad to see Lippi ignoring DP, but thats life and nothing last forever. Lippi must find new faces for the NT, and del piero´s time will come more sooner than later.

yeah but use the man while you still can...it's not like dp is an ancient stone that cannot play football...he has a lot of goals (cassano 2, but who cares). He still has 2 strong years in him, you can search for new faces and replacements after.

I think that for DP to be called back..he will have to practically force his way in the squad, socring hell lots of goals and doing who knows how many jaw dropping performances like he did to be called for the past 2 big international tourneys, to not leave any doubt.

Any less than that will seriously compromise his chances.

that's because toni sux :p

also i don't think he is far better than amauri, they are different players IMO

Amelia was responsible for at least two of the goals.
