Makelele does get cards, and the rest are shit dm's....who dont really defend, but are merely deep sitting playmakers, not a true defensive midfielder....to be a defensive midfielder u will get cards, otherwise ur not trying hard enough...im a dm, i get loads of card, but im effective. As people have said, its inevitable u get cards when playing dm, but some u should'nt get (keano

they are shit because they are not defensive. Xavi is better going forward, jus like the rest of the dms mentioned, e.g pirlo...come on he is a very good defensive midfielder, good creatively but defensivly pants.

IMO Emerson is the only player, who can be compared to Vieira, not in their style, but as a dm. I wont praise him, performance speaks for itself.
If someone says that Emerson is shit, cause he cannot defend, well what can I say... No words to describe the level of your football-blindness.
Just remeber how Roma midfield ate our whole team not so long ago.
If we had an Emerson, or even a Dacourt we would have conceded 50% less goal during the campionato, than we did. You think only the defenders and the keeper to blame or to hail if a team concedes many or few goals.
Nowadays Roma is so good, that even Emerson can join the attack, but I dont think he is worse just because he is scoring.
btw Pirlo is playing in a special position, he is more of a regista from the back, operating with his 40m long passes. He isnt defending great, but with ACM mids and defs they can afford it.

- If I remember properly, you didnt write: emerson, dacourt... etc. are shit, couse they get too many cards. You wrote, that they are not real dm's and so on... I think we no need a better dm than Emerson, or even Dacourt. - Btw to find a good dm, who dont get card is as productive as finding a good striker who dont score goals. (Smith is your candidate if I remember well )

dacourt isnt newhere near as good as vieira....
If ur a real defensive dm, u will get cards, otherwise ur a chicken dm.
BTW a future world class dm can be found in benoit pedretti...classy dm, very similiar to de rossi. He would be great for us, the successor to deschamps
