but can we shell out 30 million pounds on gerrard and he we afford his high wages
To get the money, we would have to sell some of our big players, thats the juve way = Zidane and Inzaghi out, then that money used for Buffon, thuram and nedved

I think will be zlatan or/and viera out for money:agree:

No chance! Both players love their clubs, and would cost way too much in wages, but could get rid of Trez for henry, or just pay out the remainder of his contract, which is 3 or 4 million euros i think. Possible for moggi to sort!:agree:

Serie A round-up: Juve keen on Gerrard
Eurosport - & Reuters 06/04/06

Capello criticises Juve fans after European exitAccording to reports in the English media on Thursday, Juventus are ready to snatch Steven Gerrard away from Liverpool this summer. The Reds captain has been no stranger to close season transfer sagas over the past few years, and this summer is set to be no different.

Juventus may be striding away with the Serie A title, but their failings in Europe this year, brought to a head on Wednesday with their aggregate defeat at the hands of Arsenal, have prompted a rethink.

When manager Fabio Capello was asked after the match about rebuilding his squad for next season, he replied bluntly, "We are already working on that."

And one area thought to be in need of strengthening is the midfield, with talk of Patrick Vieira being offloaded rife around the Stadio delle Alpi.

But Liverpool would be very unwilling to let their star player leave Anfield having fought tooth and nail to repel the advances of Chelsea last summer, and Real Madrid the year before.

Gerrard signed a new four year deal with the Merseyside club last July.

WHOLESALE CHANGES

Capello is not likely to stop there in his recruiting though as the Old Lady looks to bounce back from a second quarter final defeat against Premiership opposition in successive years.

They already have an agreement to sign Parma's exciting right-winger Marco Marchionni and media reports suggest a similar arrangement could see Inter Milan midfielder Cristiano Zanetti move to the Delle Alpi.

Zanetti, who has been forced to the fringes at Inter, was a key part of Capello's championship-winning side at AS Roma in 2001 and would be a useful addition to the squad.

But if Juve are to mount a more intensive challenge to get back the trophy they last won 10 years ago, more radical and certainly more expensive purchases are likely to be necessary.

If the past is anything to go by, Juve will probably need to rid themselves of one or two of their big earners before bringing in any top-class signings.

There has been constant speculation surrounding their Swedish forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has looked irritated and unhappy in recent games and has come in for intense scrutiny and criticism from the media.

To offload Vieira who wanted to come in Juve and no to Real
and buy the five times more expensive Gerrard is totally an unrealistic speculation,
there were never been any official comments on this from Gerrards or Pool's side,
we have so many problems to solve before we get involved with this "expensive purchase",
with the same money we can be buy Gallas,Mancini,Barzagli and Joachin
solving our real problems,
why create new ones where its not needed?

Call for Lippi, are you mad?

The solution to our problems at the moment is not to look backwards and say Lippi won the CL for us so get him back and he'll do it again.

I think that our problems will take a few years to sort out but we have to start on the right road now and look to the future and not the past.

And as for this Gerrard rumour, he may come but I don't think he is the answer we need players who have grown up watching and supporting Juve. Gerrard has Liverpool in his heart, we need someone who has a black and white heart.

EXCLUSIVE: SMILES BETTER

RAFA BENITEZ last night assured Liverpool fans that they will not have to endure another summer of I speculation about Steven Gerrard by insisting that Anfield captain has no interest in joining Juventus.

The Italian giants, armed with £150m from an exclusive television deal agreed in December, have put Gerrard at the top of their wish list despite the fact that the England midfielder committed himself to Liverpool last summer by signing a new four-year contract worth £100,000-a-week.

There have even been suggestions in Turin that the runaway Serie A leaders opened talks with Liverpool about a £30million summer trans-v fer at a recent meeting of the G14 clubs.

But Benitez is adamant that Gerrard does not want to go anywhere - and will never be tempted to leave until he has achieved his greatest ambitions at Anfield.

Benitez told Sunday Mirror Sport: "I have heard about this Juventus link and lean tell you 'no'. "No-one from Liverpool has spoken to Juventus - maybe they have spoken to one of our fans.:D

"All I can say is that after all the speculation we had last season, Steve is now one of the ' most committed members of our squad.

"Last season it unsettled him because he is a young man. This season he is more mature. There will always be talk about his future be-cause big clubs are always interested in him. But he seems more contented and relaxed now. "Will Steve want to play abroad sometime in the future? Maybe.

"But that will only happen when we've won the Premiership three times and won the Champions League again
.

"If that happens then maybe he would want a new challenge. But not until then."

Gerrard has been at his inspirational best this season.

He was sent off for recklessly picking up two yellow cards in the Merseyside derby two weeks ago and missed last Saturday's win at West Brom through suspension.

But he will return to Benitez's line-up for the visit of Bolton as the Liverpool boss looks to match the physical power at Sam Allardyce's disposal.

After missing the World Cup in 2002 to undergo surgery, Gerrard is desperte not to be missing when Sven Goran Eriksson's squad go to Germany in the summer.

But Benitez mantained that Gerrard's commitment to the Liverpool cause means he will not hesitate to keep putting himself in harm's way for his club.

Benitez added: "Steve knows how important it is to do the right things for the club and he seems very focused at this moment.

"What really impresses me is that, although the World Cup is coming close now, his thoughts are only with Liverpool.

"When the big international tournaments are approaching, like the World Cup or the European Championships, some players lose their focus on the club. They start preparing themselves for playing for their country.

"That makes them very selfish. But that is not the case with Steve."

Liverpool legend Sammy Lee returns to the Anfield dug-out as Bolton's coach tomorrow, revealing he never expected Gerard Houllier to be sacked.

Lee was one of the Frenchman's coaching staff when he was axed to make way for Rafael Benitez two years ago.

He said: "I was invited to stay and I fully appreciated that. No one expected Gerard to be sacked and I felt it was best I went with him.

"I've got nothing but the utmost respect for Rafael Benitez and the club."

Another BIG star is the last thing we need IMO...Gerrard isn't the key...he is an upgrade to both Emerson and Vieira but surely we will need to get rid of one of them, and if their sales can't equal half of Gerrad's cost, I don't consider it a good signing.

Just play our youngsters atleast...we need a black and white heart
