- Rafael van der Vaart has scored 8 goals (6 in the League, 2 in the UEFA Cup/Intertoto) in his last 8 consecutive matches for HSV this season.

- And he has scored 3 goals in his last 4 matches for the Dutch national team.

- He is currently second (6 goals) on the Bundesliga Top Goalscorer List trailing behind Klose (8 goals).

- He has been awarded the most MOTM awards of all the players in the Bundesliga until now this season.

- These statistics makes him the most profilic scoring Dutch player of this season until now. Beating renowned strikers like Van Nistelrooy, Huntelaar, Kuyt, Van Persie.

These are his career statistics:

2000/01 Ajax 27 app 7 goals All competitions
2001/02 Ajax 22 app 16 goals All competitions
2002/03 Ajax 27 app 20 goals All competitions
2003/04 Ajax 33 app 8 goals All competitions
2004/05 Ajax 29 app 7 goals All competitions
2005/06 Hamburger SV 19 app 16 goals All competitions
2006/07 Hamburger SV 26 app 11 goals All competitions
2007/08 Hamburger SV 9 app 8 goals All competitions
2001-2007 The Netherlands 46 app 11 goals

Totaal career goals: 104 goals in 238 appearances

He has a goal ratio of: 0,43697 goals per match. This gives him a better goalscoring ratio than e.g. Drogba (0.43), Messi (0.415), Ronaldinho (0.424), Diego of Werder Bremen (0.25).

Van Der Vaart barely has disappointed throughout his career, he had ONE really disappointing season in his career, this was his last season at Ajax and still he managed to score 7 goals. His goal record is phenomenal by all means considering he isn't a striker but a attacking midfielder.

And i didn't even mentioned his assist record which isn't bad either.

Pretty impressive. That´s why I have a good opinion about him. However, he needs to accomplish that in a stronger league/club. That is when I will consider him a world class player.

And Van Der Vaart scored the winner once again for HSV and was named MOTM in the match today.

German Bundesliga Goalscorer list:

1 > Miroslav Klose > Bayern München 8
2 > Rafael van der Vaart > Hamburger SV 7
3 > Luca Toni > Bayern München 6

As of Saturday 6 October 2007. 18:00

He is an lethal attacking midfielder, probably the best performing (at least the most efficient, that is one thing no-one can deny) playmaker of the world right now.

I've watched Rafael van der Vaart a lot over the past couple of years and I think he's absolutely great player. He's a very creative, technical player and has the ability to set up plays easily. He also has great vision and his coach at Ajax used to say he was one of the few players he could put almost anywhere on the pitch, because of his great overall awareness. Besides his great footballing brain and scoring abilities, he's also a player who can bring unexpected magic on the pitch. --->Watch This
And in my opinion he's also better than Real Madrid's Wesley Sneijder, who I've also watched a lot.
At Ajax he used to play as a creative playmaker, but now at HSV he's put in a more forward position, playing as a attacking midfielder who's more focused on scoring and this might be the reason he's more prolific right now.

The only thing that is problematic with him is that he's very very injury-prone. He's had injuries on both knees, both ankles, both thighs & his hamstring and has missed at least 1/3 of all the games he could have played. So many injuries at such a young age, it's a shame really.
If he's healthy though, he's one of the best midfielders in the world in my opinion and he has the potential to become even better. But I honestly think he would be much better suited to the Spanish league and that's also the place where he wants to go.

BTW Rafael Van der Vaart isn't the most prolific Dutch player currently this season, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is the most prolific right now.
Huntelaar currently has 11 goals (9 Competition & 2 UEFA Cup) & 4 Assists.
But for a midfielder Van der Vaart's stats are very good.

Van Der Vaart Insists He Wants Spain Move

Rafael van der Vaart has reiterated his desire to move to Spain and baslted Hamburg for rejected an offer over the summer that would have seen them a huge profit on him.

The Dutch midfielder was reportedly the subject of bids from Real Madrid and Valencia in the recent transfer window and he is furious at being denied his chance to join the Spanish giants.

Hamburg stated recently that they were confident that he would sign an extension to his deal at the club, but that now appears to be a distant hope.

"I want to go to Spain, and that is the end of it," Van der Vaart told the Bild am Sonntag.

"In May, (Hamburg president Bernd) Hoffmann came to me and asked how they could make me happier. I said that I wanted to move to Spain and that I would always like to consider any such offers, and he agreed.

"Then a team came in, and suddenly I am not for sale at any price.

"I arrived for €5m and then HSV could have made €22m, but nobody at the club wanted to discuss it.

"I cannot understand that."

Van der Vaart has explained that his strong desire to play in La Liga stems from the fact that his mother is Spanish and he has a lot of family in the country.

During the summer he was disciplined by the Bundesliga outfit for being photographed wearing a Valencia shirt.

Despite the off-field distractions, the former Ajax star has already scored seven goals in eight games for Hamburg this term.
