Hamburg's Van Der Vaart Dreams Of Valencia Switch

HSV midfielder Rafael van der Vaart insists that a move to Valencia would be a dream come true. However, the Spanish club's advances have so far been roundly rejected by the Germans...

Rafael van der Vaart has described a move to Valencia as "a dream."

Hamburg's virtuoso midfielder would jump at the chance to swap the Bundesliga for the Primera Liga, and sees Valencia as one of the top clubs in the Spanish setup.

He said, "I want to depart and, for me, Valencia is a dream." He added that he'd "hurt if he had to remain in Hamburg," referring to the possibility that his current club would reject a transfer bid.

And, indeed, they did. HSV refused Valencia's first advance for the former Ajax man.

The Hanseaten are reluctant to sell the prized asset whom they acquired in 2005, with Director of Sport Dietmar Beiersdorfer making his feelings on the matter plain.

He would not say whether or not the (confirmed) Spanish offer weighed in at 14 million euros, but unequivocally stated that, "We have always said that we will not sell Rafael van der Vaart at the current time."

The fiery Dutchman is no stranger to controversy, his departure from Ajax being heralded by his own comments in the media, and it seems that his Hamburg career is set to end the same way. Whether it happens before the end of the current transfer window, though, remains to be seen.

Rafael's Spanish connection doesn't begin and end with this Valencia bid. 24 year old Van der Vaart's mother was born in Cadiz.

It was not that long ago he insisted he wanted help Hamburg through the season and now he's publically stating he'd be hurt to stay with the club he pushed for so hard when he was with Ajax.

As much as I admire his skill, I have to wonder how long he'd bother sticking around here if Juve signed him. Two seasons top if we don't win a trophy? There is no loyalty with him.

Even his "dream" Valencia move would be nothing more than a stepping stone once the likes of Man Utd, Real Madrid, Barca and Milan come calling.

if you say so secco. we had been linked with him, perhaps not as strongly as diego and vdv i personally wouldnt even pay 18 mill for him anyways.

I'm not the one who pretend to be the Mr. Informer... do you still think we have signed Milito?

I didn't see yet any creditable source linking us with the likes of Sneijder, VDV, Diego or Nasri so stop moaning each time one of them sign for another team and let us wait and see if the managment will do any further moves.

oh you really need to get over yourself with milito. since i was still right about him in the end.

any moves for an attacking mid is more likely to happen next season now when nedved does retire, though we could probably still make a move for one in january but not to arrive till next summer since i cant see any room for one right now

I don't think he is lack of loyalty .HSV is really not a big club ,and germany league is not a famous league comparing with Italy ,Spain and England league.....

no good player want to waste his football career in a small club

and whoever he signs for will lie about how he supported them since he was a kid
When he was on Ajax his "dream-team" was Barcelona, even in Football Manager I believe his favourite club is Barca or Madrid. Fuck VdV

i see VDV coming to us next season .. i will be really disappointed if he didnt come ..
Why? So in the 2009/2010 season he'll just leave us and we'll sell him for less because he no longer wants to be a Juventino, please let's get someone else..
