Boca president Mauricio Macri admits he has no idea where playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme will be playing his football next season.
The 28-year-old is on loan at Boca from Spanish side Villarreal until June 30, but Macri has already confirmed that the club will not be keeping him due to a lack of funds.
"It is impossible for Roman to continue at Boca. Saying something different would be lying to the people," Macri told Argentine radio network Latina.
Riquelme returned to Boca after a fall-out with Villarreal coach Manuel Pellegrini, and Macri admits he is unsure of the player's future.
"That is an issue between Villarreal and Roman," he added.
Despite his imminent departure from La Bombonera, Riquelme has been in fine form for Boca and helped the team qualify to the Copa Libertadores final.
"Riquelme is the best playmaker that Boca had in the last decades," Macri concluded.
