Van Der Vaart Move To Juve Still On – Report

Juventus will resume negotiations next month to try to sign Hamburg star Rafael van der Vaart, according to Tuttosport.

The Bianconeri have been strongly linked with a move for the Dutchman for a few months now, however there had been reports that their interest had cooled.

Juve boss Claudio Ranieri recently claimed that he doubted van der Vaart would be arriving because he would clash with young starlet Sebastian Giovinco, who is due to return to Turin from his loan spell at Empoli at the end of the campaign.

However Tuttosport claims that Juve representatives will fly to Germany next month in a renewed attempt to try and broker a deal for van der Vaart.

The Bianconeri are prepared to offer between €10-12m, which is some €8m short of Hamburg’s valuation of the playmaker.

However the fact that the 24-year-old has a clause in his contract that allows him to be sold for just €1m from the summer of 2009, it is highly likely that Hamburg will be forced to lower their asking price.

Juve are well-known to be in the market for a top-class centre midfielder following the disastrous performances of last summer’s signings Tiago Mendes and Sergio Almiron.

lazio's coach is good? You mean the same lazio that are in a relegation battle? I'll take my chances with raneri......
look at their injury problems and players they're played with in the first half of the season first before u make that judgement, ranieri never won anything in his career and he coached top teams, he will be out of here by next year the way things started the 2nd half of the season

tbh i think it would take a long time for wenger to adapt his style to a team in serie A to his style. he would take a long time building his team up and if he were to come to juve we would have to wait a number of years to see his finished article, and for that i wouldnt really want him.
Wenger won the double in his first full season in charge of Arsenal...he won the french league in his first season in charge of Monaco, he won the japanese cup in his first season with Nagoya Grampus..and he took them to the top 3..even though they were normally relegation strugglers....You obviously dont know much about the mans history..

Their injury problems mean nothing. Juve, inter, and roma have all had major injury problems but they don't use it as an excuse. They're 4 points out of the relegation zone. As of right now he isn't doing a good job at lazio and I wouldn't be surprised if he was the next coach to be canned.

When we started the season our board gave raneri an objective, and that was to qualify for CL. If you look at the big picture, he's well on his way to completing that task.

ranieri is not well on the way for CL qualification. juve is 3 points behind roma (and now without cheillini, andrade or criscito). a 3rd or 4th place leaves the job half done as then juve will have to go through the 3rd round qualifying.

we aren't talking about lazio here. roma is experienced in CL and they have the players to last both competions, but then again I don't think roma will get past madrid. also i don't like the idea of hoping that they will be fatigued or drop points, that can happen to juve as well (because of injuries for instance). the bottom line is we have to beat them in rome. do you think ranieri is up for it?

ye its gonna be hard and we have em at home. so that could help. if chiellini some how can play maybe and if we buy a defender that would help. if not well i find it very ahrd seeing us beatin em. im not ruling it out but it would be hard. a draw i think we can do.

Giulio Mola of Direttastadio, who doesn't know more than us I guess, said that van der Vaart refused the Valencia deal because he wants Juve. The problem is that Ranieri is not keen on him since he considers him as a striker. :(

He also said Palermo want Iaquinta in the Amauri deal. No point in doing this useless transfer.

So VDV didn't say to Valencia " I'll consider your offer" but he rejected it. I think it means that Secco has been in contact with VDV and that more likely than not an agreement is not far off, or hopefully an agreement has been made. And screw what Ranieri thinks. His opinion can be changed (and likely that he will be let go of in the summer) so why does it matter what he thinks? besides he won't be the only manager in the world where he had to make do with the players that the managment buys for him instead of his own choice.

Even if Ranieri stays, going by the rumors we are trying to sign a forward anyways (see Amauri, Huntelaar and Quag) so might as well make that extra forward VDV instead.

I would tend to agree with Ranieri on van der Vaart, I see him as more of a SS than an AM.

That said, I still want him.

I think his best position is as a support striker but that doesn't mean he can't play as an attacking midfielder. With willing runners like Nocerino, Nedved and Zanetti around him I'm confident he could make it work. Fact is we need a player who can add a bit of spark to the team and Van der Vaart fits that bill. If further incentive is needed he wants to play for us and that's always a good thing.

Lion makes a good point. If Van der Vaart didn't think joining Juve was a serious possibility I highly doubt he would've flat out rejected Valencia.

Like I say, I still want him.

He can play as an AM, but we would need to keep playing 2 DMs to make that work and maintain the balance of the side.

People are either just too conservative or dont know much about Van der Vaart and Giovinco. Both of them can play multiple positions but the best option would be deploy them both behind the loan striker in a Christmas tree formation. That should be our future right there.

But instead, we'll be stuck with Ranieri, with his breathtaking 4-4-2, without VDV, and Giovinco deployed as a left-winger just like Palladino.

Other DM needs to be more of a passer with Nocerino as destroyer, but that is what I would like to see next season.
