I just see one big Redneck Party in the land between NY and LA.

But I'm just a typical European looking down on the average american.
That's probably true, but we still get a giggle at Europe's latent racism, feminine mannerisms, and goofy accents.:D

I do and so does OECD. You can find them in OECD's Economic outlook.

In danish but the graph should be pretty clear.

You need to realise for every Greece and Italy there's a Germany, Finland or The Netherlands.
BNP? You mean that insolvent French bank that is holding a shit load of CDO's sand CDS' that nobody in Europe can actually pay?

The EU is toast.

Thank you or the graph and this shows me exactly why I believe the US needs a complete 180

This is an interesting thought.

The flip side to that question is, of course, very simple: why pay any taxes at all?

With US tax revenues at roughly half of total spending, and declining every day, meaning the balance has to be funded by debt issuance, aren't we just splitting hairs here? Just go the whole hog and collect zero taxes. After all based on recent bizarro logic, the resulting global crisis would guarantee demand for "safe haven" US bonds for centuries to come, even as America effectively collects no tax revenue in perpetuity.

Also, what a better way to test trickle down economics and MMT at the same time.

That way everyone will be happy, including Bill, whose bonds in inventory will be monetized by the Fed day after day, as quite soon there will be no-one else left to buy.

You know, why not? If everyone believes the Fed can just print to infinity, both parties should support zero taxes. Just go ahead and monetize all the debt. Spare us the taxation debate.

No I believe entitlement spending should be cut by 50%
So, USA's extremely obese and unnecessary defense budget shouldn't be touched while non-defense spending should be cut by 50%?

That makes no sense whatsoever. Your government should reduce defense spending by at least 25% before even considering cutting social programs.

"Personally, I look at the Americans and I see a people who have been very effectively brainwashed, or who simply have given in to the entirely human tendency to shuffle unquestioningly onto the path of least resistance and let themselves go. I see a people who, on a wholesale basis, have consciously or unconsciously decided to trade the idea of America for the false security of a totalitarian state."

    Yep.

One has to wonder though... is the whole Der Homeland Security and TSA nonsense simply a ploy to keep more folks employed? Perhaps. But I don't think so.

Boy this country is just cruisin' for a bruisin'.

Everything. The greatest generation and my parents generation didn't have almost any of these entitlements. Everything from a broken social security system to programs for press two for Spanish etc etc. my parents came from Italy didn't speak English they learned there was no press two for Italian etc.
Cool story bro, but which entitlements? I'm just curious to see which you would cut and which you would keep. We all have our lists.

Even the Joint Chiefs think we could cut back 25% minimum.
