I really expected us to have some serious cash this summer. C'mon guys last summer's market wasn't a splurge of cash by any standards considering the reconstruction. This summer is when the big deals will go through. The influx of cash from Champions League qualification and the ability to play in the tournament should be enough to attract players, my fear is that our wage budget is depleted by our aging stars. Especially since most of them were offered even higher salaries after promotion back into the Serie A. I could see a silver lining in Nedved's retirement but we'll need someone to cover his spot right away..none of this settling in bullshit anymore.

Don't get me wrong though, the Old Guard are my favorite part of this team and they bring back the best memories of being a juve fan but as painful as it may be we might have to start thinking about what's best for the team.

If a player like Nedved can accept that and take a reduction in salary to make it more affordable for new stars to emerge we might be able to compete for big prizes next season.

If he isn't, we can still rely on our youth but that project will require a long term transitional period up until all of our Old Guard retire or a miracle occurs and we win the CL next season bringing in a lot more cash flow. I'd prefer the latter, but I'm worried its just wishful thinking.

why do you guys keep on using words as they 'fuck up' and 'even worse'
we just got back from second division, we have qualified for CL and finished third
and you guys act like we got relegated again
is all perfect? no off course not but you think all is perfect at Inter or Milan?
You can attribute that to the old guard...not the Secco signings and certainly not Ranieri's "tinkering"

Ufo’s Fiorentina farewell
Wednesday 14 May, 2008

Czech international defender Tomas Ujfalusi has said his goodbyes to Fiorentina and is ready for La Liga.

After four years and over 100 appearances in the Viola shirt, Ujfalusi decided not to renew his contract at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

The talented stopper looked set to join Sevilla, but was unable to agree personal terms, leaving the way clear for Atletico Madrid to pounce

“The time has come to say goodbye,” he declared in a Press conference this afternoon.

“I’m happy that I am popular here, but my mind is made up. I will be going to Spain, even if I haven’t signed a deal with anyone yet.

“I will always remember these four marvellous years in Florence and I have had a great time here.

“But now I want to try another League which isn’t Serie A or the Bundesliga. I hope to play for a lot longer yet, so maybe I will return here one day.”

Ufo is determined to leave on a high, by securing Champions League qualification with victory over Torino this weekend.

“It’s the final effort and the most important one,” he said. “We have won qualification for the last two years but been denied and that is my biggest regret.

“Now we need to do it for real. Toro will be a tough game, but we are ready to get the result.”
