Enter Ubuntu Christian Edition: http://www.christianubuntu.com/

Q: Is Ubuntu Christian Edition designed for Protestants or Catholics?

A: Both! Ubuntu Christian Edition will always try to cater to the needs of all Christian denominations.

:superhapp

So what is it that makes Christian Ubuntu so.. shall we say... divine (pun intended)? Erm..

Along with the standard Ubuntu applications, Ubuntu Christian Edition includes the best available Christian software. The initial release contains GnomeSword, a top of the line Bible study program for Linux based on the Sword Project. Future releases will contain even more great Christian software.

GnomeSword Bible study program. First of all, what a belligerent name for such a peaceful piece of software. Is there a hidden message here, I thought we were done with the Crusades? You can learn all about it here: http://gnomesword.sourceforge.net/about.php Note that the screenshots are so crappy, apparently the authors don't pay much attention to how they present the Ubuntu Christian Edition flagship software product.. :mute:

Anyway, that's the only discernible difference, one application. And, of course, you get your branded Ubuntu, branded with your FAVORITE RELIGION!!! :cool2:

What if you require an Ubuntu that has support for Buddhism? Well, maybe you can submit a bug report and they may consider that in their next release. :jester:

Meanwhile, here are some more great [pure] Christian resources:

http://www.whatwouldjesusdownload.com/linuxforchristians/blog.html
http://www.qualitychristianwebhosting.com/
http://whatwouldjesusdownload.spreadtheword.com/ (nothing says Jesus like retail!)

And finally, if you're fed up with these religious nuts altogether, how about you join me in a protest against religious zealotry by pouring your heart out to [email protected]?

Why don't I just download sword and install it on my current Dapper?
You can do better than that. You can download the source, rename the application to GnomeCannon and fork the project, release it under your new name!

You can even replace the content. Instead of the Bible, ship yours with Burke&Andy's Greatest Forum Hits.

    It sounds great actually

Lets do it, bring in Nawaf and Cheta and we got a project:p

    Throw in:
    1-A complete 1897-2006 statistic database
2-A couple of Juve wallpapers, icons, cursors, screensavers
3-An offline browsable version of Juventuz.com/forum
    4-what else?

Oh oh, great pun comes to mind. Linux is about Choice (tm), so Ubuntu Christian Edition lets you choose ANY Christian variant

Why are you so excited ? :)
Isn't it like Windows or MAC. What's so special about an "Ubuntu Christian Edition" program, unless I'm missing something.

Because Windows and Mac will not redeem your soul and send you to Heaven. Neither will Ubuntu. But Ubuntu Christian Edition will!!
