There are times when Mikey should be benched, as there are with all young players.

Like last season when he mouthed off to the Gladbach manager and ended up benched for a month. I wouldn't have played him.

I think Bradley can be the holding midfielder. It's not like he doesn't do a lot of that already when we're forced back. As a DM he can still surge into the box when the opportunity arises.

Lets face it, Holden is more skilled than Mikey and therefore needs to play. You're definitely right, Bob won't bench his son so the only way it can work is if Mikey is the holding middie. What we can do is have Holden next to him in matches where we'll see more of the ball, but in those against the likes of Argentina and Spain we can field Jones. Torres is the odd man out in this but that's the brakes.

He deserves to play. Nobody is saying he should be benched outright. But it seems like he plays no matter what, even if he's having a bad outing.

No one is saying that he doesn't deserve to be a starter. There are times when he is playing poorly or does something idiotic (as young players do) that would get anyone else subbed or sat and Mikey always makes the team sheet.

Did you watch the US - England match during the World Cup? He dusted England's defenders a few times and missed a clear chance.

He's really, really fast with a decent touch and a high work rate, but he lacks in the finishing department.

Ya, I've been watching some of his highlights and I have to say his finishing is not too bad, it's certainly good enough for the Championship. His speed is what counts the most though he'll be running rings round the ultra slow defenders. He's not injury prone or anything though?

Nope he's pretty sturdy. Though he does get knocked off the ball some if he's forced to play with his back to goal. He's much better in a run and chase role stretching the defense with diagonal runs.

I still think Bradley should give the 4-3-3 another go. But instead of using three defensive midfielders, use something like Holden - Bradley - Torres (Jones). The article doesn't mention that the reason why the 4-3-3 didn't work in November might be because Jones - Bradley - Edu are all DM's, which of course will be problematic. At least with Holden and Torres you get some creativity in there. Then for up top, Donovan can take the left side again.
