is there a b league? may i ask why american sports tables are all based on east, west etc. is it because there are so many teams?
There is not an official "B" league to the MLS. We just have the MLS and those franchises have exclusive rights to play there because everything is controlled by the league, so no relegation. The reason behind this is to attract new investors because with chance of relegation, that will deter people from participating. What we have is the USL that consists of four divisions that are considered a step down from the MLS, basically the B, C and D leagues, et cetera.

The reason why the league is set up in East and West conferences is because all American sports are divided as such. NHL, NBA, et cetera. So they tried to model the MLS after those sports to make it easier for other sports fans to understand.

Pretty weak, I know. But most Americans are used to conferences based on location and overtimes, so I suppose they have to do it this way.
