Juve take Milan revenge

The Bianconeri have lifted the traditional Trofeo Berlusconi with a slender 1-0 win over a wasteful Milan.
It was apt revenge after Fabio Capello's men had lost 2-0 in their other meeting this summer, the 45-minute long Trofeo Tim tournament.
The fourteenth edition of the Trofeo Berlusconi was played without the injured Hernan Crespo, David Trezeguet, Paolo Maldini, Pavel Nedved and Gianluigi Buffon.
Manuel Rui Costa continued to take that deep midfield role traditionally held by Andrea Pirlo after his successful experiment in the 3-0 Italian Supercup victory over Lazio.
Both Carlo Ancelotti and Fabio Capello were facing their former clubs, but there is a curious superstition that suggests the losing team in this clash goes on to win the Scudetto. Last season Juventus emerged with a 2-0 victory.
Milan had the first chance after five minutes when Andriy Shevchenko put in a splendid low pass for Jon Dahl Tomasson, but he wanted to take an extra touch before striking for goal and allowed Jonathan Zebina to dive in with a recovering tackle.
Kaka fired straight at the goalkeeper, then Igor Tudor was booked for trying to punch a free kick into the net.
There was an incredible miss by the Rossoneri when Shevchenko sprung the offside trap and cut back for the unmarked Kaka, who somehow managed to balloon it over the bar from eight yards.
Just before the break Chimenti flew across the face of goal to palm out a fierce Shevchenko free kick, then Dida performed a fine save on Emerson's piledriver.
Both sides made changes at half-time, but it was Juve who took the lead within minutes of the restart. Substitute Fabrizio Miccoli sprinted past Alessandro Nesta and placed a perfect pass for Ruben Olivera's finish.
Miccoli changed the face of Juventus and one of his trademark solo efforts thumped the far post.
Ancelotti changed his tactics again on the hour mark with Serginho pushing Kaka further up to partner Shevchenko.
There was also a curious moment when Shevchenko and Gennaro Gattuso had a row on the field after a misplaced pass, but within minutes they had hugged and put it behind them.
Milan hit back and when Kaka stole the ball off Tudor's foot, Marcos Cafu's shot was kept out by Chimenti's reaction save.
The Rossoneri should have equalised on 70 minutes, but Serginho managed to miss an even easier chance than Kaka's first half effort. The substitute dribbled round Chimenti and ran towards an open goal, only to hit the near post from a tight angle.
Soon after the goalkeeper parried Serginho's shot and a weak Seedorf effort, then Olivier Kapo completely missed a free header from Miccoli's set-piece.
Kaka was particularly out of sorts and again ballooned over the bar from a good position before he fired straight at Chimenti on another counter-attack.
Miccoli remained Juve's most dangerous player and burst through the centre, but veteran Billy Costacurta was able to match him for pace and plucked the ball off his foot.

Milan had plenty of opportunities to get back into the game but it was Juventus who took their chance through Ruben Olivera to score the only goal of the game just after the half-time break to see the Bianconeri lift the 14th edition of the Luigi Berlusconi Trophy.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti had to do without the services of the injured Paolo Maldini, so Massimo Ambrosini took the captain's armband, with Kakha Kaladze coming in at left-back. Ambrosini started on the left of midfield, leaving Rui Costa to continue in the Andrea Pirlo role in front of the defence while Rino Gattuso played on the right and Kaka offered support to the front two of Andriy Shevchenko and Jon Dahl Tomasson.
Milan had the first clear chance after six minutes when Shevchenko sprang the offside trap and raced into the area before playing a low cross to Tomasson but the Dane attempted to take an extra touch and was tackled at the last moment. On 11 minutes, a quick one-two passing movement between Rui Costa and Kaka on the edge of the Juve area released Kaka but the Brazilian's shot was smothered by goalkeeper Antonio Chimenti. Kaka was a constant threat, running with the ball from midfield and on 18 minutes Manuele Blasi was shown the yellow card after pulling the playmaker back inside the centre circle. Milan should have gone ahead on 20 minutes when Shevchenko once again out-foxed the offside trap but rather than shoot on goal, the Ukrainian rolled the ball across the area but Kaka side-footed over the bar with only Chimenti to beat.
Massimo Ambrosini floated across a dangerous ball on the 30-minute mark which Chimenti almost pushed into the path of the on-rushing Kaka. On 37 minutes, Shevchenko sent in a thunderous free-kick from all of 30 metres which Chimenti got down to parry away for a corner. Juve's first real threat came a minute later when Emerson tested Dida from long range but the goalkeeper proved the equal and turned the ball around the post for a corner.
Ancelotti introduced Clarence Seedorf at the start of the second half for the midfielder's first outing since undergoing an operation in July. The Holland international replaced Tomasson, with Kaka pushed forward to support Shevchenko.
However, Milan were caught cold a minute into the half as Fabrizio Miccoli escaped the attentions of Alessandro Nesta before playing a low ball to the back post for the unmarked Olivera to side-foot into the roof of the net. Milan began to settle again and Shevchenko saw a header from a corner hit a crowd of players before being cleared. Kaka then made a challenge in the area and the ball dropped to Cafu but his left-footed drive was blocked by Chimenti. The San Siro crowd once again thought the Italian champions had equalised, on 70 minutes, when Chimenti mis-read a long pass and Serginho gathered the loose ball but with the goal open, managed to hit his shot off the post from a tight angle. but Olivera was outstanding along with Mico
Problem is we still have the same defense mistakes with a very slight improvement compared to last season
by the way Milan has dominated the first half and missed 2 face to face with cheminti opportunities and thanx god he was there
anyway in general we did improve in the second half
This is a brief evaluation and opinion about all the players shared last night trophy:
Cheminti : he was good. For me I didn’t miss Gigi
Thuram : did very well in the CD but I don’t think he is able to advance while the team is striking anymore
Tudor : he is good and I think he gained some self confidents after signing the new contracts
Brindilli and Pessotto : both should be on the transfer list
Zebina : scared to death and really unconvincing
Blasi : can’t say, not sure
Tacchi : searching for the lost things and I don’t see him as a starter player in any of the important games not even a probable subs
Olivera : Simply, an outstanding player
Emerson : with nedved, they can beat any MF players of any team on the earth
By the way nedved didn’t play last night
DP : IMO, Cap will follow Lippi , hope u got the point, I really love this player but I thing he is a very average one now a days and shouldn’t be under pressure otherwise will never get back to the DP who we all know and liked

but IMO it is more important that Del Piero played well against Djurgarden, than today against Milan! but he also is better when there is not all the pressure on him, also on Neddy!!
IMO Capello does a good Job till now, and with Cannavaro we are a competitive squad!

Chimenti Played very well ... looks like buffon might be losing his spot chimenti was put into danger throughout da first half and a little bit in the second half and was perfect even when he screwed up .. he always fixed his error..... olivera was wht every one was talking about at da sheesha joint ... who is this guy and were was he.. he played very very well.. too have him and camoranesi in da same position is goo in my opinion .. as they are both quality players so whenever one of em gets inconsistent .. he goes on da bench .. so dats cool.....
milan fans at the coffee shop were unconvinced with the performances of kaka and serginho who missed unbelievably easy chances.. and they all already hate olivera .. hehe
i broke a couple of glasses after da match and da wonderful goal by olivera from miccolis excellent assist ( dat midget is fast)
why shuld juvy fans be happy with this victory most of all is dat we were missing quality players ... camoranesi, nedved, trezeguet, legrotaglie, montero, buffon etc and still managed to beat a milan side missing only on maldini...
