What is the point of keeping a player (which is young and comparatively expensive) for ONE year, if you know that he will leave in 12 months as a free agent?

For money made on Trezeguet we can buy someone, with whom we can sign a 3 or 4 year contract. And potentially he may contribute even more than Trez would.

I like Trezeguet, he's contributed a lot, a great forward, but there are things beyond club's control.

I would actually love to see Trezeguet in both Barca and Arsenal ... him scoring against Real Madrid and Manchester United :D
My opinion is exactly the same... Sad but true, Trez is leaving...

what do u think that money grows on trees?
If Arsenal would want that offer believe me that Moggi would put in the cash before you even hear of a rumour!!
I don`t think that Arsenal would really accept this offer tough :( sad but true!

I don't think Arsenal can afford Trez after signing Reyes. Yeah, I can't see Trez going to Arsenal unless a swap deal is made, hopefully with Vieira!

yeah.they've currently got too many forwards on their books(henry, bergkamp, wiltord, aliadere, pennant, reyes, kanu) and it only makes sense if one of them is forced to be a reserve.
Well, Wiltord is leaving and Pennant is a winger, so it's not that they have too many forwards, it's just that Arsenal spent 20 million on Reyes and thus they will want to play him and Bergkamp is in the way.

I made a dinner bet with a mate that Trez will score more than Henry at Euro 2004. I didn't make it because I'm supremely confident, I just wanted to oppose an arrogant Arsenal supporter. Please do me proud David

How could an Arsenal supporter even think to be arrogant? Arsenal have never even been to the semifinal of the Champions League, and probably/hopefully they never will. They think they are on the same level as Real Madrid, Milan, and Juve, but in actuality they are light years behind. They are a wannabe club that never will be. So I hope Trez does not go to Arsenal, cuz he surely will never win anything there, besides the boring League title.

EXACTLY :stress:

I've recited the exact same speech countless times to my friends who are (bandwagon) Arsenal fans. I made that bet last night and started talking about the squad and giving hypothetical situations e.g. if Henry, Vieira and Pires were missing, and he was lost for words. At first he was like "Nah man, Arsenal is a world class squad, they're playing the best football atm".. afterwards he was saying "Shit, we need some depth in our team"

:D

Then the bet's off, I guess.

Funny if we made this bet at WC2002. I'd be ripping my hair out with Trez hitting the woodwork and missing easy chances :stress:

Great stuff Graham! Like I have always thought, if Henry and Pires would be missing because of injury, Arsenal would have a crisis even worse than ours. Even if Henry would get injured right now, I don't think Arsenal would even win the title because they would not score goals, and there for not win games. And what is so exciting about Arsenal's play? Pires slipping in through balls to an unmarked Henry to dribble past the shitey Leeds defenders? Hell, any team with a good passer and fast striker can do that. All my teamates and coach from my team all thought that Arsenal would win the C.L., easily beating Chelsea and whoever else they would face. I was the only person who thought that Arsenal would fail, simply because they are not that good of a team. So, to all my teamates dismay, I got the last laugh. Same goes with last year, I predicted Juve to be in the Final, while everyone else thought Real would crush Juve.

For some absolutely stupid reason everyone who follows soccer in the U.S. thinks Man U and Real are the best team, and that the Premier League in England is second to none when it comes to class. But when I ever meet someone who proclaims that, I laugh in their face, saying the facts: Italian clubs have won 5 and played in 10 of the last 15 Champions Cup Finals. While the pathetic English clubs have only played in it once in the last 15 years! Man U., to win the C.L. in 99, got one of the luckiest goals I have seen to win it. After I tell them that, they get angry, saying that there is a crisis in Italy. I say what Crisis? The only crisis is that people think that England is so great, while it is clearly, by the facts, overated. I am trying very hard to spread this word all across my country, but who knows if they will believe me. Man United and Arsenal suck, people just have to accept that. Take a look at the top 10 list of European clubs by World Soccer. Man U. is not even in the top five. Arsenal probably isn't even in the top 20! The list goes Real Madrid, AC Milan, Juventus, Bayern Munchen, and Inter Milan. Sorry, but English clubs are not the class of European soccer.

Maybe if he scores 4-5 to Switzerland or Croatia and keep the lead....that would be in his style

Yes so true! One of my mates is an Arsenal fan, he's convinced Arsenal is the best theam of Europe that they're unbeatable etc. Thinks every player of the Arsenal team is so good (with the exception of Lauren). Every time i try to convince that Arsenal isn't THAT good (yet), with the stats just like you Andrea. He just doesn't listen, pretty annoying:groan:.

Well at least i've convinced one of my friends who's a PSV fan :D.

i hate those arsenal fans who think they support the best team in the world just cause the neighbourhood betting outlet placed them on equal odds with real to win CL a couple weeks back:groan:

im a devote juve fan, but as a honest fan of football, imo the best team in the world right now is arsenal, their play is a mazing, astonishing...better than chelsea by far. Chelsea beat arsenal for the first time in ages, lucky it was a last minute in the chmapions league.

If u watch the epl and see how arsenal play, there is now way u wouldnt agree with me, unless ur a man u fan.
