Swiss Under 21 international with Kosovo in his soul Valon Behrami has exclusively revealed to Goal.com that he hopes to join Premiership giants Tottenham.
“I have to say the truth, I love English football. It’s the type of football that I prefer over all the rest. Therefore I would be glad to join a Premiership side. If there was the possibility, I would immediately go there. I am enjoying my stay in Italy, but English football fascinates me a great deal,” Behrami, who is currently plying his trade with Serie B outfit Verona, told Goal.com Italy’s chiefeditor Sergio Stanco.
London side Tottenham have been linked with Behrami in the past months, and the Kosovo born player hopes their interest transforms into something more.
”I hope Tottenham will start to seriously think of me…,” he said with a smile on his face.
The attacking midfielder, who is also being tracked closely by Juventus and Palermo, considers himself to be a ‘citizen of the world’ as he has been moving from place to place throughout his whole life.
“I was born in Kosovo , I will be 20 years old very soon. When I was four and a half years old, my family ran away because of the war and moved to Switzerland, close to Lugano. There I started to play in a local club, before joining Lugano in the Swiss second division. In 2000 Lugano went bust and I was available on a free. Genoa contacted me, and I moved to Italy,” he explained.
Genoa still have full ownership of Behrami’s services, and they loaned him out to Verona for this season.
