So nesta has never been a top 5 defender.... yet you have the most overated defender in world football in second.
Im sorry but campbell is crap.. he cant even remember the cardinal rule of being a central defender.... a guy shown to be a prime factor in 60% of goals let in by his national team during his tenure and a defender that gets played with for fun in the premiership week in week out!!
The rest isnt bad i spose...

Im with Shadowfax .. Campbell is very slow, predictable, and finds it hard controlling the ball .. but he is very good at heading (out of corners), he has scored many goals for Arsenal this season, for England, and for Tottenham previously.

Thanx mate. I considered putting Stam on the list, but his recent performances for Lazio have not put him in top five position. Right now he would be about 7 or 8 on my list.

Welll, I hadn't really intended to make the list in order, I'd actually rate all five of those players of similar quality. I watch Sol Campbell a lot and he played fantastically in the World Cup and he may not be the best in your eyes, but I fnd him to be generally more effective than all other defenders currently except those on the rest of my list.

Rickenbacker, Stam was just short of amasing in this season with Lazio. If you are judging players by latest performances he definetevly goes in yours top five list.

And Nesta is at 90 %, granted.

Nesta's 90 % is still better than many of the players mentioned here.

And yes, I'm biased. But in the last three years i never saw one defender that can measuer up to him.....

that is, when wearing Lazio's jersey. Red & Black makes him lose concentration it seems.....
