It's a girl thats beautiful, but not like movie star beautiful. SOmebody that looks all sweet and innocent, that can be your next door neigbour, somebody that is not out of your reach... basically a normal, yet really beautiful, girl.

I think ;)

No, as far as I know "The girl nextdoor" is a very pretty yet normal girl (within reach, if you will).

Doesn't need anything added to that sentence.

Doesn't it just mean the carrying on of a legacy? An attitude or force that can't be broken (a flame that can't be extinguished)

e.g. if my family has been making.. shoes.. for the past 7 generations, and my father's convinced beyond doubt that my family will continue producing shoes as long as the family name still exists, then he might say that i'm carrying an eternal flame, since the responsibility now lies with me to become a cobbler

that way probably a bad analogy... oh well it's 02:14, so at least i have an excuse :sleepy:

er...i think that's not the song's meaning ... but thanks all the same !!
Actually what graham said is pretty much what it is.

Wouldn't that applay to 'she looks like the girl next door', but if you only use 'the girl next door' ...

Well if you live next door to a girl then you can still say it your way :D

And another criteria for girl next door is she would be young.

And actually i wouldnt recommend using girl next door in your speech. Its 100% porn.
