the thing with atletico is now; do they risk it, and buy him IMMEDIATELY in a rush, in order to strengthen their team for the return when schalke goes to madrid, or do they wait and see if they get those 15millions from the CL-qualification. Every reasonable person would wait, but who knows; maybe they are willing to risk a gamble and hurry for tiago now.

Otherwise, i think we should just sell him to the highest bidder ASAP. Just put Tiago, Cobolli / Secco, Newcastle team manager, Atletico team manager and every other interested team on one table and make it happen... Once we have those ~10millions assured, we can at least focus on other things (new signing or not)

Well... i can understand him somehow; He should be on the peak of his career but instead, he's being sold around. chelsea - juve... those are top-adresses, with CL-ambitions, and then to finish up at tottenham most probably is not the dream of a professional footballer.
BUT; he has to go. And we have to find a solution to this. He just failed to impress, and he needs to take the consequences...

Everton ‘agree’ Tiago deal Tuesday 19 August, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Italian Press reports suggest that Everton have reached an agreement with Juventus for unsettled midfield flop Tiago Mendes.

The Portuguese international had high hopes when he joined the Old Lady from Lyon this time last year, but his first season in Turin was a nightmare.

After a series of unconvincing performances, the ex-Chelsea man dropped down the pecking order and was banished to the bench.

With the arrival of Momo Sissoko in January and Christian Poulsen this summer, Tiago looks still less likely to command a starting spot and has allegedly vacated his house in Italy.

After unsuccessful negotiations with Tottenham and Newcastle, Juve seem to have reached an agreement with Everton for a loan deal with the option to make the switch permanent in the summer of 2009.

Everton would pay around £800,000 for the loan and would pay Tiago’s wages of £1.8m for 12 months.

The fee for a permanent transfer is yet to be confirmed but it is likely to be in the region of £8m.

Cutting Tiago out of the squad may allow the Bianconeri to return to the market and there are regular links with Inter star Dejan Stankovic and wantaway Lazio ace Cristian Ledesma.

Just let him go now. But not on loan. You see what happend with loaning Almiron to Monaco last year. Sell him now and use the money for a defender or an attacking midfieler...

Tiago 'snubs' Everton switch
Wednesday 20 August, 2008
Rumours are circulating that Juventus outcast Tiago Mendes has turned down a move to Everton.

One of the flops of last season, Tiago is expected to leave Turin this summer, but the Old Lady are reluctant to give up on their investment.

After negotiations with Tottenham and Newcastle broke down, Everton seemed to have pounced when the two clubs provisionally agreed a loan.

However, according to The Independent, Tiago is reluctant to return to England after failing to settle with Chelsea in 2004-05 and has rejected a year at Goodison Park out of hand.

Juve are allegedly keen to show Tiago the door because they want to bring in a midfield reinforcement.

There are reports in Italy today that Claudio Ranieri wants to see Stephen Appiah return to the Bianconeri.

The Ghanaian international has rescinded his contract at Fenerbahce and would be available on a free transfer.

Appiah is not likely at all, just cheap speculation.

But yeah, wtf is with Tiago? Surely he is not declining due to salary demands, as he did before with Tottenham, because this is a LOAN. He would get the same salary.

We cant sell him, and now not even loan him if this is true.

Why is he not leaving??? We give him the chance to save his career. If he stays here he will play only in training and he knows it. What is he trying to do????

I want Appiah here. Hi is mature now, he has played very good matches with Ghana and he is free. He has played in Italy and he will not need time to settle in.

But if Tiago doesn't leave i don't see him coming...
