I was reading the gazzetta in 2007 when we bought but, Almiron and Tiago..They had a section with best buys and biggest flops...funny thing was it was written right after the pre season and it had Almiron in the best buy and tiago in the biggest flops category....

And me too....he we'll prove every one wrong, if he get's a chance...
I'm still waiting for over a year. He had more than 10 chances. Still not enough? Does he need some kind of special treatment? The problem is no one here gives valid arguments, just keep mentioning 4 assists like it is enough for him to win Ballon'd Or with those 4 assists. Oh and calling Ranieri a retard is not a valid argument, it just proves you are biased and have a :gsol: soft spot for Tiago. :gsol:

Also, Ranieri knows what he's doing and he was dead right in benching him. The player looked like a dead beat all the time barring few matches and in the end he provided no reason whatsoever to start him. He was the worst performer between him, Nocerino, Zanetti and Sissoko. Actually, Nocerino was shit in 2nd half of the seaosn but by that time we had the brilliant Sissoko and Zanetti in form. When Zanetti got injured, Tiago actually got the few chances and started playing solid but nothing spectacular which would be enough to earn him a starting shirt. No one is calling him a flop because he was benched, he is rightfully called a flop because his performances were utter shit.

How on earth is he going to prove us wrong if he is on his way out? (thankfully)

Tiago is a good player, but he will never be truly effective so long as we play a straight 4-4-2.
Simple as that. Whether he's good or not, he doesn't suit our style of play and we can do better. Either we lot him rot on the bench because I doubt he'll deserve a game ahead of Alonso/Zanetti or Sissoko, or we cash in on him while we still can.

Of course he never stood out,but still getting 4 assists under this circumstates:

-never played 3 games in a row
-media pressure>"flop"

is pretty ok for a player who is labelled one of the biggest flops in history.I wouldn't loose sleep if we sell him but I'd prefer him to let's say Poulsen, that's for sure.

How would you look like after such a disappointing season at Juventus and after missing the EC as a result?I wouldn't be too motivated either when it's almsot certain that I leave the club.
So, what you are basically saying he has a weak mentality? Thanks. All I needed to hear. Mental strength is what separates great players from flops. It's obvious Tiago belongs to the latter group.

That's not entirely correct. He made a decent show of himself in the second half vs lazio(when to be fair, Zanetti and DP won us that match by themselves anyway though) and started the next two games, but subsequently his performances dropped witch each game after the Lazio one.
Well absolutely Zanetti and Del Piero won thhe Lazio match for us. Alex won at least 50% of the matches for us just by his own brilliance, so that's to be expected. That's how poor our side was with the ball no matter who was on the pitch.

Actually, come to think of it, I remember getting pretty tired of giving Tiago additional chances near the end of last season as he just kept bottling them up. And this was a time when the season was as good as over, meaning NO PRESSURE. He made 20 or more appearances for juve this season.
By that time, with the media "flop" frenzy and Ranieri benching him throughout the season, it's pretty obvious [again] he wouldn't light up the pitch.

In the end it's pretty simple, was he good enough or not? No, he was not.
Sure, he wasn't good enough, but he was hardly a flop.

The only reason why everyone here uses that term is because that's what the media started calling him in November. You can't possibly label someone a flop if they've only had a handful of sporadic chances to prove himself which came months at a time at a brand new team and league. It's pretty clear that Ranieri's supposed "tinkerman" and "good with all players" status didn't ring true.

I have faith in Tiago and I stand by my assessment.

Horse manure. He had decent performances in october and Ranieri was right to bench him? WTF is that about? He was literally benched for two straight months barring a substitution FFS.

And I guess if you say to the people who defend Tiago that they have a soft spot for him, that must mean have much more than a soft spot for Molinaro who you mindlessly (sorry) defend every chance you get.

Molinaro was by far the worst player we had and that's because he was always out on the pitch screwing around like a dolt, much worse than Tiago.

You're right, If someone thinks Tiago want given a chance, tell me about Iaquinta or Palladino

What are you asking for?? do you really think of counting on him next season? he was given many chances comparing to chances given to Iaquinta , Palla, crisito, stendardo and Almiron

This is Juve , so you better prove that you worth it or get sold

To me its simple, i'd rather keep tiago and give him another chance than getting "poulsen" here. If we're getting "alonso" then its bitter that we sell the guy this summer cause he's price will further drop next summer.......

tiago is an excellent player he proved that at chelsea and lyon. now, he hasnt been at is best here bit the same thing happened to henry with juve. he later proved his worth and we missed out ona great player.

i did see some flashes of talent in a couple of matches and he got to play more at the end.ranieri even praised him once and amauri just did ,

give him a chance to prove himself this season. if we manage to bring him back to his lyon form this could be like a new signing.

worst case scenario we sell him next season.

pool fans hated sissoko because he wasnt good enough. he came here and proved them wrong.

zidane after joining madrid made some terrible performances at the beginning but coaches gave him a chance and he finally blossomed into the zidane we saw here

we have to be patient with tiago for our own sake

i think he is a top notch player who just had problem's adapting

none said that Tiago is a bad player...

if he had played as he did in Lyon we wouldn't search for a new mc now...

but some players cant adjust in some countries...

shevchenco is not good in Chelsea...

Di Vaio and Fiore didn't do well in Valencia...

does this mean that they are bad players????

on the other hand Ranieri has given him already many chances and he didnt do anything...

i remember the game against Milan that Sissoko played for 2 players in the midfield and Tiago was invisible...

i say just keep him and give him another chance, we payed too much money for him to leave him go like that...

if next year he is the same crap, he can go...

I agree that keeping Tiago is better than spending for another DM but I dont like both solutions, if we cant get Alonso, we better look for a similar player, there must be somewhere a player that can play Alonso's role

About Henry.... I dont know exactly what was his situation, but I heared that he was played out of position, but again I didnt see him playing in Juve, also keep in mind that back them, Juve was a huge team full of stars, not today's juve where Tiago can't compete with Almirons and Nocerinos

The same was for Mutu, he wasnt proven in Juve cuz he was played out of position, and we had Zlatan, Trez was in a great form, and 2 years younger DP

As for Sissoko, I was against his signing because his famous "Liverpool's bigger than Juve statement"

Finally you cant compare Zidane's case to Tiago, Zidan was a WC,the most expensive player, and before his first season ends he restored his WC form again

Henry played as a right winger in Juve...

Mutu played as a left winger mainly here...
The same as he plays in Fiorentina...
The difference is that fiorentina has made a team arround him...

Sissoko in Liverpool was very good...
He ran, he dribbled, he passed, he was awersome...
but beto (the defender of benfica) hit him in the eye...
and he was likely to be blind by 60% if i remember well...
fortunately he was okey, but this cost him his starting position in liverpool...

For tiago now, the only reason i'd like to keep him, is that we payed too much. I think we should give him a second chance (as a rotation player of course)
