Say whaat? :D You used to like Ranieri? He was on my top 5 worst managers list untill he came to Juventus. I still have serious doubts about his abilities but he's here and doing fairly well so far so he has my benefit of a doubt.
Oh, my liking for Ranieri mostly stems from off the pitch matters. He used to be quite the amicable person. Moreover, the way he gave his players a chance and changed tactics was something that I thought would be good for this side, but apparently he doesn't do that anymore.

But yeah, apart from those facets, Ranieri frankly sucks.

So what we gain with two destroyers in midfield we lose going forward with someone who's good with the ball at his feet.
That's true and obvious to most of us, even to Ranieri, i believe.
But :
1. How much more attacking-wise we gain with Tiago+destroyer, compared to what we have now ? We score a lot of goals even with two destroyers.

2. How much defensive wise we lose with Tiago+destroyer, compared to what we have now ? Have in mind what's our backline when you'll answer this question and have in mind how we played defense when Almiron was playing in midfield and Nocerino on the right side.

If we get, lets say 30% more in attack, but we lose 50% in defense, then it's better if we keep playing with two destroyers, isn't it ?
If we get 30% more in attack and we lose 30 or less % in defense, then we should play Tiago+destroyer.

But how much do we get and how much do we lose ?

Look, I'm not saying that we should always use Tiago. However, we have seen Tiago start two Serie A matches, against Reggina and Empoli in which we won 4-0 and 3-0, respectively. Despite Tiago playing, during those matches we didn't seem likely to concede, especially in the Empoli match until Giovinco entered the pitch. I know that Empoli and Reggina are not having good seasons, but Tiago did enough to warrant more playing time.

What you're trying to do here is quantify something that isn't theoretically possible. Who knows how much we would lose defensively in the future if we started Tiago and who knows how many goals we wouldn't score with playing two defensive midfielders. All we can base our opinions on is what we have seen thus far, and we still looked sound defensively when Tiago was out on the pitch for those two said matches. Too many people are looking past those performances and relying solely upon matches such as the Coppa where the whole side was fucked up. Moreover, I find it laughable that people won't give Tiago a chance when he has created just as many goals as Nocerino has thus far. Against mid-table sides, at home, we don't need to play with two defensive midfielders. If we do, then we really have some problems on our hands.

But anyways, I'm getting tired of this discussion. Most people here have already made up their mind regarding Tiago, saying that he's not "Juventus material," whatever the hell that means. Ranieri apparently is starting to believe that as well. I hope for Tiago's sake that he can move on to a club that actually gives him a chance instead of being castigated by spoiled, greedy and impatient fans who don't even have a good reason to bash him.

Ranieri: I Only Signed Tiago After Sissoko Failure

Claudio Ranieri has made the startling revelation that he only signed Tiago Mendes because of the failure to get Liverpool’s Momo Sissoko.

Tiago signed for the Bianconeri in the summer from French champions Lyon in a big-money move.

The Portuguese international was expected to provide some much needed power and authority to the Juve midfield, however he has been a complete disaster and has made only seven appearances, with just two of these being starts.

His misery was compounded yesterday when he was brought on as a substitute against Atalanta in injury time.

“Tiago? I brought him on yesterday to hold the ball and he did very well,” said Ranieri.

“I wanted both Tiago and Almiron, no one is left out in the cold, but Nocerino and Zanetti are playing very well. I play whoever gives me the best possibility of winning.

“It is true that in the summer we spent a lot on Almiron and Tiago, but how much are Zanetti and Nocerino worth?

“With Tiago we were thrown into buying him after we were told we had to spend €32m on Sissoko.”

It will be interesting to see how Ranieri’s latest comments go down with Tiago, but the 26-year-old is nevertheless expected to move on during the January transfer window.

First off... Sissoko for 32 million? I wouldn't pay 10. Second... buying someone for the sake of buying them?? Thirdly... publicly admitting you didn't want the guy anyway? Jesus!

Exactly. When a player does good, he deserves another chance next game because of his form.

Rotation in my opinion, is needed. Tiago has spent most games on the bench so he starts for 5+ matches in a row and Zanetti/Nocerino are swapped around in those games. Ill agree that we haven't got a great defense, but its not awful. I would say that 3 of the 4 who started against Atalanta are really reliable defensively so far. Add to that our Superman, and its looking up for guarding the goal. Creation is really lacking when we have a gaping hole in the centre of midfield. We can use the wings to great effect, but Trezeguet and Iaquinta obviously need more service. Some would argue that against Palermo, we did just that, but I think that the Sicilian club were pretty awful in that game. Take vs Milan and vs Atalanta and we have shown that Nedved is the only creative spark when we played.

Listen, I believe he is Juventus material. In the game yesterday, he came on for 2 minutes and chased every ball he could and won 2 headers if I remember correctly. It didn't look like he was just accepting the victory and just sitting back with the rest of the team to defend, he wanted to make an impact. I felt really sorry for him aswell, he was put on when a win was 99% guaranteed. I hope he plays on Saturday, and scores a goal. To show Claudio what he has missed all season.

Unbelievable. If this report is actually true, then I Ranieri must be fired. That's all there is to it. He not only bought a player he has no clue how to deploy, but also wasted millions of Euros on somebody he apparently did not want. This guy is making less and less sense as we go along.

Moreover, this just compounds the evidence that Ranieri is ruining Tiago.

Indeed, that is true. Our strikers have done a great job thus far banging in goals without much service, but once the seasons matures we will probably have more trouble scoring, especially without the service of Camoranesi. It's pretty obvious we need another player in midfield who can create some chances for our lethargic side.

It's frankly ridiculous how Tiago has been treated, from the idiot Goal.com writer above calling Tiago a complete disaster to Ranieri continuously making imbecilic comments that only hurt the player's morale.

But it's pretty obvious that Tiago will be sold off, and I'm happy for him. He doesn't deserve this treatment from twat journos and a cunt for a manager.

I think that if he doesn't play, the only way we can keep him is bringing in Mourinho. Or else he will follow Jose to whichever club he chooses. But as you say, it is a waste of a talent so far, sell him off and make Claudio blush.

No.

If fit, Nedved and Camo should never be benched. Our team just isn't the same without either of them, let alone without both of them.

Nocerino and Zanetti have outperformed Tiago by miles. Our defensive frailties have remained hidden, because of Nocerino and Zanetti's contributions.

I wouldn't sacfifice one of our forwards to include Tiago either. So for me, there is no place for Tiago. I see no reason to make place for him anyhow.

About Marchionni. I think he is a good player. If Camo and Marchionni are both fit, we have the best midfield in Italy. Shame Camo has been injured a lot this season, which wasn't the case normally. Marchionni has always been injuryprone, which has turned him into damaged goods. With a lot of playing time, Marchionni could get back to his old level. Chance are though, that he'll get injured again before finding his form. Same with Andrade, who I see as damaged goods.
Taking it too far, wouldnt you think? stronger than Roma and Inters midfield??

What Dominic said right there is ludicrous. Player for player, both Milan and Inter have better midfields than we do, and if Spalletti is fielding Totti behind Vucinic, then Roma's midfield is arguably better as well.

Well, that just further adds proof to the fact that Ranieri is a fucking pea-brain. I thought he'd turn it around in the past couple of days after Wednesday's fiasco, but he's still a fucktard. Suprise!

I've lost all of my respect for him now. I'd like to see him gone at season's end, even if it means Juventus missing out on the Champions' League due to his stupidity. I can't believe he said this, I'm so rattled.

We shouldn't be leading Serie A, what the hell are you talking about? We're fucking lucky we're even in third.

Is losing to Udinese at home, Napoli away, and drawing with Roma, Inter and Milan working wonders? I don't think so. The highest team in the table we have won against is Atalanta FFS. And even yesterday we weren't all that good.

Wake the hell up.
