Athletico Give Tiago Ultimatum:

Tuttosport understands Atletico Madrid have given Juventus midfielder Tiago Mendes until Sunday to accept a transfer to Spain.

Both parties have been in talks since early last week and Tiago has even expressed his enthusiasm to move to the Vicente Calderon.

However, the 28-year-old isn't so keen on taking a pay cut and has let it be known through his agent Jorge Mendes.

Atletico's director of sport Jesus Garcia Pitarch has therefore given Tiago until Sunday to accept, otherwise Los Colchoneros will turn their attention to Lanus' Argentine midfielder Eduardo Salvio, who is also being courted by Fiorentina.

Tiago is the key to unlocking Juventus' transfer strategy, as once he is offloaded they can finally think about bringing in a like for like replacement.

The Bianconeri have been linked with a move for Lazio's Cristian Ledesma, but competition from Inter is thought to be too strong.

An offer to loan Tiberio Guarente for €800,000 has also reportedly been rejected by Atalanta, making it even more likely that Juventus will now focus on either Genoa's Alberto Zapater or Real Madrid's Fernando Gago.

If all else fails Juventus director of sport Alessio Secco is considering recalling Albin Ekdal from his loan spell with Siena.

Tiago has a really loser attitude.. How can he not think about the first team chance in Atletico and choose to warm our bench just to suck the wage.. I don't think the wage difference is that big, And look that WC will be held in next summer..

This guy is a c*nt, he should know he needs to go. We have given him plenty of chances to shine and he has failed, so its time he looks out for the interests in the club.

thats exactly the problem. Tiago keeps on getting called up to his NT despite not playing for us, hence him feeling pretty comfy here

Our fault for paying him the dough and not understanding what sort of player he is. Ranieri's and Secco's fault, not Tiago's. It's the same case as blaming Ferrara for accepting the job.

He does a decent job for Portugal as well.

Soooo someone edited my post for posting a bad word. I would like to apologize (probably Mark since he posted after me). Bad taste on my part....just dislike Tiago and would like to see his departure.

Yep. I do that sometimes. When it's constant then it's not ok but I understood your point.

Both clubs have agreed on the deal and the Spain is the ideal place for Tiago for far too many reasons to number, if there is an actual chance for him to reborn, its in Spain or Portugal!
And Atl is one of the best chances he will ever get.

We wont hesitate for an instance to offload him, given the chance, after all he has done. The only issue is that Tiago is really pleased with his sub status in Turin and the stable income he gets here, he knows that a this age he will never such a sucker club like Juve, to pay him all that money for his permanent vacations, unless he is a free agent. As i have been saying for years...
Refusing this offer will once again demonstrate this point!

Hopefully, their offer (salary/years of contract) will be good enough to tempt him though...

tiago is a living example of our managerial incompetence, lets if the 1/3 of the triade can change that in a month (where others failed for 3 years)
