what irks me is the number of times the play bypasses Tiago...I'm not sure if it's the tactics or his general demeanour...so many times, Tiago will be in space in the middle of the park, and either the fullback or Sissoko runs past him and play the ball to Del Piero :wallbang:, then Ale has to come deep to get the ball and further away from a goalscoring position
I've commented on this in the Ekdal thread.

To me, it is up to Ranieri to tell the team that Tiago should be given the ball at every opportunity.

I agree that Tiago still isn't as dominant a figure as he could be, but that isn't his style. He just wants to quietly go about getting the ball and playing simple passes.
it's a pity really, this is his big chance to cement his place in starting XI...he has no real competition and Juve are in the middle of a purple patch...I just keep expecting more but get disappointed each time

Maybe you're expectations are just too high.

He isn't a guy who will take total control of the game by himself. He just links the play nicely.

I know he's the link up man and not the star MF we are craving for...but when I see Mellberg, Sissoko or Molinaro making a dash with the ball and Tiago just hanging around middle pf the pitch, it really ticks me off...he has the vision and ability to make a great pass, but he ends up being a bystander

Overstatement.

As for you saying that tiago always seems to drift away from taking the ball. I always notice him calling the ball and waving to the players, but again he doesnt get the ball to his feet. Although he tries to call for it. It's probably tactics and not his fault. Ekdal is a very promising player but he's nowhere tiago right now.

It's pretty obvious how our midfield sparks when tiago is on. Did you see that pass he gave to del piero right before the penalty, it was pure class.

If he can make 2 or 3 of those every game, I'll be satisfied. He only needs to receive the ball more.

Ranieri saying: "Tiago that's not the way I want you to play! You're doing everything wrong!"
Tiago replying: "What??" and thinking : What more I have to do!! This guy doesn't like the way i play and that's it!

Monaco to tempt Tiago? Tuesday 11 November, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After impressive recent performances, Juventus midfielder Tiago Mendes has returned to Monaco's radar.

The Portuguese international joined the Old Lady from Lyon in the summer of 2007 but he suffered a miserable first season in Serie A.

Finally, though, it seems the 27-year-old is ready to show his talent in a Bianconeri shirt and he played an important role in Juve's six consecutive wins in the League and Europe.

Ligue 1 outfit Monaco were reportedly close to luring Tiago in the summer and there are reports that they are ready to step up their efforts in the January transfer window.

Recently Tiago was quoted as having stated his regret at joining Juve, but it remains to be seen whether he is actually determined to leave.

If the Old Lady continue to hunt Werder Bremen's Brazilian ace Diego it may make Tiago's decision for him.

Meanwhile, Monaco are also being linked with ex-Inter midfielder Cesar Aparecido, who is in limbo after his contract with the Nerazzurri expired in the summer.

Thats why ive argued that goal should be allowed (only if theres offical quotes of course)

Channel 4 are just as unreliable, I remember when we first got promoted and got that cash injection they reported that we were gonna sign one of either Gerarrd, Ronaldo or Lampard within the space of a week.

aight ... better cash in on him and get a player that does not need more than a year to show 3 mediocre performance i could show with one leg bond to a tombstone[/QUOTE]

& how can u guarantee that any player would not need time to adjust? even a WC player like diego. smartass!!

there are no guarantees that he'd adapt faster, we hope he would (if he comes), but u never know!

it's all a question of quality.

if you got a quality player that is way above mediocre, when he plays crap he still plays decent.

you obviously do not risk as much as getting a "good" player who does not add anything to the team when he plays crap.

i think there is a certain percentage of (lets say) player quality, that will show no matter if you are in the team for 2 years or just one day.

the character does certainly play a big role.

when you watch these friendly games "worlds best XI against Ronaldos friends" and so on you see it. real players don't fuck up just because they do not know who the other players run etc.

there are a bunch of stars that did never play together against another bunch of stars and there you don't see someone just having a walk in the park and suddenly forgetting how to play a pass, run to receive a ball and go past some defenders.
